By -Law Authorizes
Killing Stray Dogs
Hensall council joined others
in the district this week in pass-
ing a dog control by-law as 7
protection against rabies.
The Hensall by-law provides
that any dog found running at:
large without a tag, and where
the owner or harbourer is not
known, shall be shot.
In addition, the owner of a
dog who allows it to run at large
will be liable to a fine of up
to $50.
The by-law, similar to ones
passed in Stephen, Hay, Exeter
and other municipalaties, was
recommended by Huron County
Health Unit to protect the public
against rabies.
Statutory final meeting of
council was held Monday night
with all members present.
Constable E. R. Davis was
Instructed to collect the poll tax
at once. Officials say this affects
about a dozen young men in the
Mr. Davis said cups had been
purchased for the hall. He re-
ported on snow removal and the
repairs necessary to the tractor.
Tax Collector J. A. Paterson
announced tax arrears had been
trimmed to $1,541.03 or 2.85 per
