William Russell Bestard, 13,
formerly of the Goshen Line,
died in Medicine Hat, August 12,
and was buried in the family
plot in that city, At?gust 14.
Russell Bestard was ;the son
of the late Mr. and Mrs, Jo-
seph Bestard of the Goshen Line

At the time of his retirement
he was a dispatcher.
He is survived by his wife, two
daughters and one sister, Mrs,
Dora Harris, of Medicine Hat

On and after ,Janizary 1, 1959, the Ontario Hospital Services Commission
will be the only agency offering standard ward hospital insurance in
Ontario. No private insurance company or prepayment plan win nair
. o benefits covering standard ward hospital services after December 31, 1958.,

Ehrolnent is open to every resident of Ontario—regard-
less of age or physical condition—either through a group,
or individually On a Pay -Direct basis.
Non-residents of Ontario are not eligible.
PREMIUMS
The low premiums of $2.10 a month for aftle.
'and $4.20 a month for the family (husband, 4'' and
children under. age 19) are made possible by extt* siv
financial participation of the Federal and Prc'ineiat
Governments.
Closing date for Pay -Direct enrolment is September 30th, 1958. (See last question, below)
QUESTIONS 8'i ANSWERS
Q. How long [oust a person be a resident of
Ontario to become eligible?
A. There is no time.period on residency --•- ail residents
are eligible to enrol.
Q. What are the benefits of the plan?
A. The plan pays for the regular and usual standard ward
in•hospital services as available lit approved hospitals, for
as many days as these services are medically necessary:

Emergency out-patient hospital services within 24 hours
following an accident, .
Q. Does the plan pay for doctors' bills or
surgeons' fees?
A. No.
Q. Will there be any waiting periods for bene-
fits in the case of hospitalization for specific
conditions such'as maternity eases, repairs of
hernias, removal of tonsils, appendices, etc.?
A. No. An insured person is eligible for insured services
on and after his effective date, regardless of the type of
condition requiring care in an approved hospital.
Q. Are there any medical examinations to
pass or medical questionnaires to complete
prior to enrolment?
A. No.
Q. What .Areas of additional. coverage will be
offered .hs prepayment plans and imuranee
companies?
A. The private plans and insurance companies los
offering nine forms of additional coverage, including
payment for the difference in cost between standard ward
and semiprivate, or private hospital accommodation,
medical benefits, etc.
Q. Wil.! benefits be provided for hospital env
received outside Ontario?
A, Yes. In the event of an insured person beinghospital-
ized in an approved hospital anywhere outside ntario es
the result of a. ,sudden attack of illness, or en occident, reim-
bursement will he made up to the coat of similar care lima
comparable hospital in Ontario. e
Q. If I. ant a resident. of Ontario, but work
outside tihe province, am 1 eligible for
benefits?
A. Yes, so long as your recognized residence is in
Ontario.
Q. What happens if 1 do not qualify to enrol
in tt group and don't enrol its an individual
by September 30, 1958?
A. You may enrol at any time DLel' you will lose the two
months' free coverage, and you will be required to wait
three months following date application is received before
Benefits become available to you, For example: if you do
not apply, say, until February you will not have protection
until May 1st.
Q. How does a resident make application for pay-»ireet enrolment?
A. 1f you will not be registered through a group, complete, an application form which you can
obtain at a bank or hospital. In communities without a bank the form may beobtained from the
post office, Mail the form to the. Commission with your cheque or money order for one month's
premium, 1f received On or before 5eptemhcr 30, 19.58, this payment will cover the three months
of January, February and March, 1959..In other words, ifou register before the closing.date you
get two mihths',free coverage. Subsequent payments will be on a quarterly basis, begtnmng
January 1959.
