raw owned by Mr. and Mrs. Art
Smale.
The members of the family

Midland, and (Belle) Mrs. Wil.

'These together with their respec-
tive families swelled the num-
ber to 40.
Mrs, Jean Smale, wife of Dr,
Smale, moved a vote of thanks
to Art and Esther and other
members of their family, for
making possible such a gather-
ing. Esther made a fitting reply,
expressing her wish all return
;again at some future date.

Zifackmin (nee Hilda Smale), of
Niagara Falls. N.Y., Percy and

Veteran Fiddler
Wins Another
Mr. William Hyde, Hensall, in
addition to observing his 94th
birthday this month, ati1y23, cap-
ttured first. prize in his class at
the Old Time Fiddlers Contest
at Woodstock on Friday night
sponsored by the Loyal Order of
Moose 1141.
Last week he took second prize
at a Fiddlers contest al Merrit.

Jim Clark, local hydro super-
intendent, stated Tuesday that
the new P.U,C, cement block
building on Main street, in the
course of erection, is coming
along nicely and should be com-
pleted within a month.
The building, costing between
$8.000 and $9,000, will house a
showroom and office at front,
repair shop, garage and ware-
house. The building is 72 x 20.

Smillie Family
Enjoys Picnic
The 19th annual reunion of the
Stuart. Smillie clan was held at
the Lions Park, Seaforth, on Sat-
urday, attended by approximately
one hundred descendants and
their families.
Fred Howe, president, acted
master of ceremonies for the
occasion, About 30 gathered for
an informal noon luncheon. The
children enjoyed the afternoon
with swimming iti the pool while
the others visited.
Members of the clan from dis-
tant points for the occasion in-
cluded Mrs. Mary Gray from Al-
vinston, Alex and Dr. Jennie Ro-
bertson from Toronto; Dr. and
Mrs. A. B. Smillie from Niagara
Falls; Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Howe
and Betty from Hyde Park; Mr.
and Mrs. John Elder from Osh-
awa; Mr, and Mrs. Linton Tay-
lor and family from Toronto;
Mrs. Lyle Statham and Jim from
Kingsville; Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Eatwell from Siriscoe; Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Elliott and family
from Blyth.
A program of sports was con-
ducted by Sharon and Judy El-
der but ram cut this short, The
evening meal saw the usual
good turnput of the elan.
Harold Shepherd of Toronto,
was elected president for the
coming year and Delbert Geiger,
Zurich will be the new vice-pre-
sident.
Lorne Elder had available a
recently completed copy of the
Elder family tree.This tree in-
cluded the descendants of Wil-
liam Elder born in Scotland in
1795. Many of this family are
also members Of the Spine
Clan.

and a reducer, which were
