Tour Queenston
A ,guided tour through the
TIEPC's Sir Adam Beek ,getterat-
ing station at Queenston was the
highlight of the annual bus trip
taken by grades seven and right
of Exeter Public School Tues-
day of last week.
Guides described the function
and construction of the plant for
the 74 pupils who took the trip
under the •supervision of Princi-
pal A, 13. Idle and Mrs, Clifford
;tory, grade seven teacher.
The historical significance of
Queenston Heights in the war of
3.812 was explained by the tach -
as the children saw the monu-
ments. to Brock and 14atire Se-
eord,
The pupils inspected the at-
tractions at Niagara
• Leaving at 6:30 a.m. in two
busses, children viewed the
Shakespearean Festival Theatre
Stratford; the Botanical Gardens,
Hamilton; and the laelis at Thor-
old, on the way down. They ate
their lunch at Queenston Heights.
Safety patrol officers from
grade six also made the trip.
Their fare was paid by the school
board in appreciation of their'

The ehildren arrived home at

destination for next year's trip.
Wins Boat, Motor
With 19.1.b., Jack
Mery Eagleson, son -In-law of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman MacDon-
ald, Simcoe Street, Exeter, who
is now living in Southport, won
the 1.958 fish derby. with a 1.9 -
pound 2 -ounce jack taken on a
spinning reel and eight pound test
Bee. The derby was sponsored
by the Portage and District
Game and Fish Association,
Mr. LI7agleson, who won " a
boat and motor, caught the hefty
winner while casting from the
bank at the spot where Rat
Creek flows into the Whiteimid.
Ile caught the fish. about 10:30
Sunday morning and failed to
match anything else all day,
though he fished till about 3
o'clock,
Mery said he played the fish
for about 10 minutes and then
waded in and kicked him out of
the water because he was too
big for his landing net,
Several hundred people turned
out for the derby and though the
total catch was a long way from
getting any records the day was
fine and a number of good-sized
jack andpickerel were caught.
