WRESTLING CANCELLED AGAINI- Wrestling,
which Was to take place in the Exeter arena on AU -
OUST 1, has had a big "CANCELLATION' stamp
:marked over it. The matman apparently won't be here
until the fail, according to young GEORGE 'RETHER,
business. ananager of the operetion.
Different reasons were given for this second can-
eellation but the xnain idea, to this corner anyway, is
that they have found it too tough to cope with the
• pleasant weather which is keeping the farmers out in
the fields longer and people just don't want to be
bothered in the heat wave.
Exeter is not the only place that the matches are
• sufferingcancellations as cards in WALKERTON and
RIDGETOWN 1ave also received a loud "NO."
in action but possibly George can reschedule them in
the fall.
ARGYEL, POPULAR NAME AT WOODBINE
Old Woodbine seems to be a place of real popularity
for a chap by the name of DUNG CAMPBELL and his
"Big Three." From -the wheat fields on his farm in
AILSA CRAIG to the race track is this man's enjoyable
• life and we an well understand why, when he enters
horses in nine races this season and comes out in the
winner's circle EIGHT times. Must be feeding his
ARGYEL SAM, DUKE and TOMMY some vitamin pills.
M any rate, -we'd like to salute the horse owner on his
wonderful showings in the mile. and would like to ask,
if he has any of those pep pills left, if he would kindly
send some toDERRY BOYLE, coach of the Exeter
Mohawks of the Huron -Perth Int. Baseball League, to
• lift his team. out of the doldrums. Right now they have
developed the strongest shoulders in the league by
holding the rest of the teams on them from. the cellar
position. It would be nice to see the club lighten the
load by dropping a couple -under them,
CANADIAN OPEN QUICKIE - JOE CONRAD, of
San Antonio, Texas, pulled an iron from his bag on
the sixth hole at the WESTMOUNT GOLF AND COUN-
• TRY CLUB. The hole was 192 yards straight away.
Actually there was nothing to worry about except the
• trees on each side of the narrow fairway; a man-made
lily pond in front of the tee for 200 feet or so; deep
sandy bunkers all around the green and if you did
happen. to hit a shot too far all you had to do was to
come out of the rough -as we said not much to worry
about (but we'll take the Bend any day). Conrad took
• about two minutes to line up his shot and then punched
.a beautiful iron shot that ended up six feet from the
flag. The gallery naturally gave the smooth swinging
artist a great applause.
Next man to hit was MOE NORMAN. Moe grabbed .
an iron from his caddie, planked. a tee in the ground
• with a ball on it .and. whoof! The ball sailed through
. the air and carne down on the green and ended up two
•. feet, from the pin, Mac took about two seconds to line „-
up his shot while Conrad took two minutes, but Moe
got the best results. It just goes. to show you as Moe
would say, "You never know!"
• AROUND THE CIRCUIT - The HURON -PERTH
INTERMEDIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE is shaping up
to be quite a race. It's too bad that more fans can't be
' . on hand towitness some of these tight games because
• they're really missing something ... Word has reached
• .us that the TILLSONBURG PAN DRIEDS are going
into the SENIOR:1'B" bracket next winter ... STRATH-
RpY ROCKETS need only four more players and they
• feel that the OHA SENIOR "B" title will be resting in
their town . Better tell WALLACEBURG, ELMIRA
• and the rest to: forget about this winter if the
ROCKETS have the cup in the bag. In what bag
thougt? From over here, it could even be a golf bag!
. Is EXETER going to havea team next winter?
This is one question that is supposed to be decided by
the 27th of this month . . . Finances are the main
•problem according to officials . , .-Players are O.K..
Stratford will have a SENIOR "A" team this winter
or nothing is the answer we get from that area.• . .
ST. LOUIS CARDS have been moved out of first place
but only by one game as this is written .• . . The boys •
in -the NATIONAL LEAGUE must have trouble eating
until they. can grab a morning paper to see the "all-
• shook -up" standings each day.
VACAT• ION TIME IS. HERE AT LAST! You won't

Around once again for the short but really.looked-for-
• ward-tO vacation, Before my other half can get our
MttleSix cylinder car packed with things, I must make
into the ball glove, bathing suit and above all, the golf
• clubs are safely tucked away. After all, how can a man
enjoy -his holidays if he doesn't do the things he'd like
to? We may even try a little fishing but I still think the
biggest fish in that ' game is the MAN SITTING ON

In one of the most thrilling
ball games on the Exeter dia-

Legionnaires stopped a last -
inning hometown rally to emerge
with a 3.2 victory and move
closer to the league -leading
Zurich Lumber Kings.
Mitchell, holding a 3-2 lead go-

saw the Tribe get three men on
the base' paths with only one
out but some good relief hurling
by Bob Sadler and a lucky in-
field bounce decided the game.
With the sacks loaded and day-

slow roller was , hit to second -
baseman Charlie Westman. In-
stead of charging the ball, West -

it, he threw only half way .to the

the ball right into catcher Ken-
