the first inning, Cann hurled

five innings.

each of the first, fifth and sixth
innings.

Three Exeter minor baseball
teams are giving a good account
of themselves in the WOAA Base-
ball :groupings. All three have
been getting their share :of vie-
tories.
Exeter Pee Wees, guided by
coach Derry Boyle, have,shown
the mast punch on the diamond
as they :hold down. first place in
their grouping with four wins
and no losses.
The Pee Wees won three games
in as many days this week which
with a previous victory, put them
on top ofi their five team group-
1ng.
The team's next game is on
July 12 when they play in Sea -
forth. Next home game is .on
July 15.
Coach Bunny Ford and his
Legion Bantams turned in an-
other win this week to gain a
split in a home -and -:home series
with Clinton, The local Bantams
now hold a 2-1 win -loss record.

Exeter' Bantams gained sweet
revenge for their $-2 loss in Clin-
ton last week as they registered
an 8-2 victory at home behind 'tlie
pitching of young Dean Mc -
.Knight.
McKnight :hurled the full seven
inning game and was in complete
control all the way as he gave
up a mere three hits, walked two
and breezed a third strike past
12 Clinton batters.
fiord Strang and Frank Boyle
backed up the best pitching dis-
play of the season with two hits
each.
Boyle singled in each of the
first and third innings while
Strang singled in the first and
belted a double in the'two-run
sixth inning.
A triple by, Bob Jones .arid
singles by Jack Stephen and.Dean
McKnight rounded out a seven hit
attack by Exeter.
Second baseman Boyes was the
only one who seemed to be able

amburg Pee Wees in an extra
inning• ball game at New Ham
burg.
The win marked Exeter's fourth
in a row without a setback and
gave the New Hamburg club, its
initial defeat of the) season.
Exeter had held a three -run
lead going into the final sixth
inning but a determined rally by
the strong New Hamburg entry
tied the count. Eickler's triple
and Brenner's two -run double
featured the late rally to tie
the score.
The Exeter team pounded out
12 hits that were good for an
even. dozen runs while New Ham-
burg scored eight runs on seven
hits.
Freddy Wells wielded a big bat
for Exeter as he lined out two
triples and a double in five tries.
.Tim Schroeder hit a sixt-in-
ning double and picked up two
singles for three more Exeter
safeties while Don Cooper, R.ickey
Boyle and Don Cann :each hit
safely twice. '

In One Inning
A 14 -run fifth inning broke a
seven -inning pee wee ball game
wide open Saturday afternoon as
Exeter ran rough -shod over
Mitchell for the second time with-
in two days in a 25-11 victory.
The locals pulverized -the visit-
ing Mitchell club' .for 25. runs on
11 hits and played errorless ball
while Mitchell mustered 11 runs
off seven safeties but came up
with six glaring errors,
The score was tied 9-9. at the
end of the fourth inning but Exe-
ter sent no less than 16 men to
the plate in the fifth to tally 14
tinges before the side could be re-
tired.
Each team scored two runs in
the sixth to account for the bal-
ance of the runs in the high scor-
ing marathon.
Barry Brintnell had three hits
in four trips. to the plate while
.Don Cann blasted' out two triples
to lead the Exeter batsmen.
Lester Heywood gained credit
for two singles while John Nagel
connected for a triple and Dale
Turvey a double.
Rickey Boyle picked up the
other Exeter safety.
Ron Fowler got three of Mit-
chell's seven hits as singles fell.
