.SOrnetlaing new has been added
to Our meetings — square cleric-
ing. Captain has been listening
to requests for so long nOw for
panne clalleing during the meet-
ings, that something has to be
done.
We never seem to get' time
during the meeting, so all you
squore dancing fans better come
early. We .had a rare old time
for fifteen minutes or .so last
week before the meeting got
under way SP if Yeu want to
square dance at Guides, don't
come lagging in at 7.30,
.There are other new things,
too,in fact Guiding seems to be
having a face lifting. We have a
chinPletelY new second class test
but the changeover to it is
optional. However, it does sound)
interesting and they say a
change is as god as a rest;
Another new addition is the
All -Round Cord.' It is a test
which a first class Guide may
try for, and for many girls, who
(eel the Gold Cord is beyond
them, this will be a ,good Sub-
stitute, It presents a •challenge
and we are glad to see it re-
instated. It was discontinued
about nine years ago.
The ,newest of new things hi
Guiding is a completely revised
Gold Cord test. The new test
does not require as many
badges as the old but the rest
of the requirements, are stiff.
They are based entirely on the
character of the girl and to test
las our founder, would say) her
`stickability."
Future Gold Cord enthusiasts
must be 15 years of age before'
Wing out an application form,
which is new for Gold Cords.
They, must be first class Guides
and hold the Little House and
Woodcraft emblems and camp-
r's badge. Mrs entails 13
edges in all.
A country is to be chosen other
than her own and she must prove
to her commissioner her interest
and knowledge in that country.
The Guide must put in a period
of four months service to her
community. This could be teach-
ing Sunday School, playground
upervisor or something
of the
ort where she would be devoting
er own time and effort to the
etterment of others. •
• Of course, as before, she must
e recommended by her com-
any leaders, cornmission'er and
ampcommandants. And her last
i

I do not feel this test is beyond
he ability of any Guide who is
