Pastor's Daughter
The death of Miss Edna Cath-
erine Bremner, Reg N., occur-
red at St. Thomas Elgin Gener-
al Hospital on Wednesday eve-
ning, She had been ailing for
'the past year.
Miss Bremner, who made her
home with her sister, Mrs. T.
Colin West, 107 Elgin Street, was
born at Ripley, Ont., daughter
of Rev. W. A. Bremner and Mrs,
Bremner. She first went to St.
Thomas at the time her father
was minister of Alma St, Pres-
byterian church. Other places of
residence were at Cobour'g,. Sea -
forth and Brucefield, where Rev.
Brenner was pastor of church-
es. She returned to St. Thomas
with her mother after the death
of Mr.. Bremner in 1943,
. Miss Bremner trained as a
nurse at Seaforth hospital and
graduated from there in the class
of 1934. She nursed in Seaforth
until going o St. Thomas. For
some years she was assistant
in the dental office of Dna, W.
N. Geddes, failing health forc-
ingher retirement.
Miss Bremner had a great
Many friends in St. Thomas, her
lovable character endearing her
to all. She was deeply interest-
ed in the work of the First United
Church, where she was a mem-
ber of the congregation, and of
the Women's Missionary Society
and the choir,
Besides her sister, Mrs. West
(Ruth) she is survived by a
niece, Mrs. Boyd Chesney, Lon-
don,
Services were conducted at 2
o'clock Saturday -afternoon. In-
ternment was in the family plot
in Baird's cemetery at'Bruce-
field.

Quebec. He attended academy
and secured his B.A. at Bishop'
College, there.
He served in World War I an.
was wounded at Maple Copse in
1910 and at Pascbendale in 1917
On his return he took theological
studies at Robertson College,
Edmonton, Alberta.
After ordination, be served two
congregations at Lavoy and at
Lamont, both in Alberta. 1n 1941,
he was called to his home
church iinLennoxville, where he
served .almost 11 years. He eame
to Kippen five years ago.
Surviving are his widow, the
former Mary .Beatrice Farwell,
of Lennoxville; one son, Norman,
and one daughter, (Marion) Mrs,
Garth Mosher, both of Ottawa.
The body rested at the manse,
'Kippen, until Wednesday, when
funeral services were held in St.
Andrew's Church at 2 p.m, Rev,
• Peter Renner, Bayfield, past
' chairman of the Presbytery,
conducted the service, assisted
by Rev, 5. Davidson, Brucefield;
Rev. T. J. Pitts. Varna, and Rev.
C. D. Daniel, Hensall Interment
will take place at Lennoxville,

Hear Missionary
On Prayer Day
The World Day of Prayer ,was
. held hi the United Church on
Friday with Cluselhurst, Carmel
and St. Pauls Anglican churches
uniting. The theme "Who Shalt
Separate Js?" was used through-
out. 'l'he service was prepar-
ed by Serena Vassady, for-
merly of Hungary, and adapted
for use in Canada by a commit-
tee of the Women's Inter -Church
Council of Canada. Mrs, G.
Armstrong outlined the life and
activities of this personality.
Presiding were • leaders, Mrs.
C D. Daniel, Mrs, E. Dougall,
Mrs. W. 0, Goodwin, 'and sacred
passage was read by Mrs, T.
Brintnell,
Mrs. Donald MacDonald, guest
speaker, spoke of the people of
India, where she was a former
missionary and stated that as
many people in India as the po-
pulation of Canada have never
heard of God.
The offering was taken up by
Mrs. E. Cook, lairs. A. Clark,
Mrs. W. Spencer, and Mrs. A,
Ferg. Prayers were offered by
Mrs. '1'. Coates, Mrs, •R. Middle-
ton, Mrs. M. Dougall and Mrs.
A. Orr. A trio "Near to the heart
of God" was sung by Mrs. Thos.
Coates, Mrs, W. Fuse and Mrs.
C. Hess. Mrs. T. Sherritt accom-
panied at the piano,

The study on the Phillipines
was taken by Mrs. R. M. Peck
and on Indo-China by Mrs. W.
Dilling. Mrs. C. D. Daniel pre-
sided for the program and was
assisted in the devotional with a
Lenten theme by Mrs. J. Hor-
ton, Mrs. M. Traquair and Mrs.
A. Rowcliffe.
President Mts. George Arm-
strong took the chair for the bu-
siness session and plans were
outlined for the annual birthday
party to be held in the church
auditorium Friday, ,March 22.
The guest speaker will be Mrs.
A. A. Amacher of Zurich, Guests
will be Chisel.hurst, Kippen,
Goshen societies and the Eve-
ning Auxiliary of the sante
church. Mrs. W. B. Cross offered
to prepare the invitations. Pro-
gram conveners are Mrs. G.
Hess and Miss M. Ellis; deco-
rating 'committee, Mrs. R. J.
Paterson and Mrs. A. Rowcliffe;
reception, Mrs. T. Coates, Mrs.
A. Clark, 'Mrs. Daniel and Mrs.
N. E. Cook; lunch, Mrs. T. Sher-
ritt, Mrs. E. Rowe, Mrs. N.
Jones and Mrs. W. R. Stephen-
son. .
Mrs. Peck reported that the
group had quilted 10 quilts, four
custom and six for the bale.

for a banquet for the local
Association of Guides and
Brownies, April 5, and put on a
testimonial dinner honoring the
choir, Thursday, May 2,
It was also agreed to share the
expense of new cups and saucers
with the WAILS., with Mrs. Gor-
don Munn to act on the commit-
tee to purchase same, Mrs,

nel holders for the silverware.
