Although only 1.92 paid admissions were on
hand to see the short-handed STRATFORD INDIANS
play the short-handed EXETER MOHAWKS on Tues-
day night, rin sure all who were present got a kick
out of •the way one of Canada's top forward lines
performed practically to perfection every time they
went on the ice. I'm speakingof the FLICK-.AN-
AGAN-ROTH trio who have this national game solid -
4y tucked away. deep in their hearts and it really
otlbows it by their performances •on the ice.
It's not hard to realize why the Strats' captain
"MICKEY" ROTH is on top of the •O.H,A. scoring
parade with some 70 points made up of 28 goals And
42 assists. The smooth7Working centre is consistently
an the go and is always a dangerous scoring threat
as are his linemates every time be gets possession
of the puck. ROTH seems to have an exceptionally

This Saturday night the SARNIA. CV's will be
making their last appearance of the season on Exeter
Ice. Coach BILL WOODWARD'S crew are dangling
In an awkward position at the moment but have
three home games left and two away. Of these five
• games four must be in the win column if they want
their playoff chances to stay alive. ST. THOMAS are
riding a "red hot" winning streak and. the tribe will
have to do the same to catch them.
While on the subject of hockey, let's swing into
the executive part of the business.
It was quite a 'surprise to this corner to„ hear
that BILL HANLEY, business manager of the 0,11.A.,
had handed in his resignation. Of course it wasn't
accepted outright by the 0.11.A. executive members
but our guess is that he will be lured back to his
post by,his friends Tfor another year at least.
BRUCE B1GGART tells us that this Saturday
night when SARNIA CVs are here, another "big
draw" night will be held in order to help raise
finances to meet expenditures for the team. BRUCE
says that two bright red lamps, just right far a
recreation, room, along with a tri -light floor_lamp,
will be,, drawn for.
Also- slated on the agenda is a draw for five
quarts of oil that will look after soMeone's car for
a few weeks. HOLD IT NOW! We're still not through.
V,ALENTINE'S DAY, FEBRUARY 14, is the date set
aside for the booster night which will be held at
Armstrong's Restaurant with the starting time slated
for 939 p.m.
ATTENTION GOLF CLU13 MEMBERS—Accord-
ing to 'the Ca.nadian Press, our interpretation of the
word "bogey", which Means one over par in the
minds of most Canadian golfers, is INCORRECT.
In,the UNITED KINGDOM, where the word• or-
iginated, it is a set figure like par and isusually six
or seven strokes over par for the 18 hole course.
1'he word is misused. in the NORTH AMERICAN
*CONTINENT by clu*swingers to Ipeart one over par.
• So fellas, kindly bring back all of the loot won in all
previous tournaments on "so called" bogeys!
While we're on the subject of golf, the Canadian
pros are still continuing to tour the United States
golf links in hopes of winning some big money. In
the $15,000 TUCSON OPEN which . was eventually
:won by DOW FINSTERWALK in a playoff, two
Canadians came in for a little bit of prize money.
AL BALDING, Toronto, made the largest Canuck
take by shooting rounds Or69-66-71-67 for a 273
total that was good for $725.
GERRY KESSELRING. of Kitchener was the
other Canadian entryand, Gerry, who has been hav-
ing tough luck all winter over there, shot rounds of
70-71-71-67-279 to earn $25. You've got a tough
road ahead,.:MOE NORMAN! ,

As Minors Start Playoffs
Exeter minor hockey teams
along with district clubs are in •
full swing of . their WOAA minor
league playoffs.
The Exeter Xiamen Midgets,
who lost a elose 6-5 decision to
Seaforth last week tied with
Mitchell for second place in the
round robin standiat_ts.
A playoff was necessary and
with the help of a Bantam line
that consisted of • Bob Jones -
Frank" Boyle -Jack Stephen, won
the sudden death tilt 6-4 in Mit-
chell to gain the rIght to ad-
vance against the Seaforth club
for the Group Chamnionship.
Playoff date S for this series
have •not been arranged but it
is expected that the teams will
see action at the latter part of
the week.
A severe, blow .was suffered by
Exeter Midgets as one of their
regular stalwarts, Jim Russell,
was injured in a high school
basketball game and will be out
for two weeks. Coed( John Ford
who has a small lineup will now
have a smaller one with Russell's
absence.
The Exeter Legion Bantams
are waiting for the winners of
the Ciinton-Milverton series as
they put out the Centralia Fly-
ers in two straight games in
their first taste of WOAA

-Hockey Week Games
Both the Exeter pee wee and
bantam teams suffered setbacks
on Friday night when the young-
sters celebrated th Ontario Minor'
Hockey Association's first "Mi-
nor Hockey Week" in Ontario.
Mayor Ted Pooley officially
opened the evening proceedings
by dropping the puck on the first
face-off between the visiting Ren-
. sall.pce wees and the local pee
wee • squad •coached by rebrea-
' Lionel director Larry Heideman.
The second game, which saw
tile visiting Kitchener bantams,
under the name of Red Wings,
work out a 6-3 victory, was start-
ed with Mrs. Bill McKenzie drop-
ping the puck for the opening
face-off.
The Hensall pee wees, bolstered
by three Zurich players, managed
to eke out a close 2-1 decision in
tightly -fought contest.
Earl Wagner, of Zurich, proved
to be the hero of the night as he
scored the tying goal at 3:33 of
the first .period with Russell
Klopp assisting on •the play and
then banged in a rebound at 908.
of the same period for what
proved to be the winning marker.
Centre Ricky Hoyle rapped in
Freddy Wells' rebound to give his
team a temporary 1-0 lead. at
1:58. Donald Cann also drew an
assist on the play.
The game showed plenty of
punch by both teams and only the
goalkeepers, John Snell in the
Exeter nets and. Dennis Mock in
the Hensall, cage, kept the scores
down.
Rushing defencenian Don Cann
gave the visitors a couple of
anxioutmoments when he made
a rink -length clash and sent a,
high rising shot off the goalpost
that Goalie Mock didn't see.
In all, four penalties were
called in the contest with each
team getting nicked for two.
