iclt pions held the annual Farmers'
Night on Monday, November 21, in
Wroxeter Community Centre, About
100 were in attendance at the turkey
banquet, which was served by mem-'
bers of the Women’s Institute, Knowf-
ston Hueston, president of the club
was chairman and Mrs, G, L, Dobson
was pianist.
Following the dinner members and
their guests retired to the auditorium
of the hall, where they were entertain
ed by the Listowel Male Quartet and
other talent from that town. Ken Ed
gar expressed appreciation for the
fine entertainment.
Two Bales Packed

WROXETER—Ten members of
Women’s Missionary Society met in
the church school room on Wednesday
night to pack the annual bale. Six
cartons contained 340 articles valued
at $399.90, This has been shipped to
^unchurch in Parry Sound district,
where Rev. Douglas Muir, B.A., B.D.,
is the minister,
At the same time a small bale con
taining mostly new articles was sent
to the Canadian West upon request of
the Huron Presbyteyial office. Mem
bers of the W.M.S, arc grateful to all

WROXETER—The pupils and
cher of g.S. 2, Turnberry had a great
thrill on Friday afternoon when the
photographer from CKNX television
station arrived to take their pictures.
The pictures were shown on John
Strong’s newscast that evening. The
special attraction was the “Midget
Times,” a small magazine which has
been published starting with the Sep
tember term and for which subscrip
tions have increased to fifty copies
per month. The editor is 13-year-old
Elaine Kirton. The magazine includes
pictures, stories written by the pupils,
spprts, announcements, etc. Mrs, Wil
son Thornton is the teacher and both
teacher and pupils are to be congratu
lated on this new adventure in educa
tion.

Members of the Tuesday Starlight
Group of Wroxeter United Church
have presented a bulletin board to the
church which is for the use of all
organizations of the church-
The Woman’s Missionary Society,
United Church, will hold its December
meeting on Thursday afternoon,
December Sth at 3 p.m. at the home
of Mrs. MacNaughton, Mrs. Harvey
Timm and Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton
are in charge of the meeting.
Miss Marilyn Timm has accepted a
position with CKNX, at Wingham.
Marilyn, a fourth-year student at
Wingham High School, has been tak
ing commercial. Her many friends
wish for her every success.
Mrs, Wes Underwood, Mrs. Reg
Newton and Miss Bonnie Edgar were
top winners in the “share the wealth”
bingo held in the town hall on Thurs
day night, sponsored by the Howick
Lions Club. There was a fair attend
ance.
There was a large crowd in attend
ance'1 at the dance on Friday night
when three members of the local Wo
men’s Institute were hostesses. Mrs.
Reg Newton,. Mrs, Harry Adams and
Mrs, Gilbert Howes arranged the
party which included a booth for re
freshments. Sangster’s. orchestra pro
vided music for dancing. A card game
was enjoyed in the basement. Pro
ceeds will be used
project.
Wroxeter’s new

there. Recently the kitchen equipment
was completed and includes a full set
of dishes, glassware, cutlery, tea
kettles and tea and coffee pots. Up-to-

Susan, Strathroy spent the week-end
here,
This week we welcome to the village
Mr. and Mrs. Elliott and family from
Harriston. They have taken up resi
dence in the house vacated by Lloyd
Jacklin, Mr. Elliott will be employed
on the highway.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd - Jacklin have
taken up residence in the Laurie Van-
Velsor house recently vacated by Mrs.
Messer and daughter, Margaret, who
have gone to live at Goderich.
We welcome to our village this week
the new CPR agent, Mr. and Mrs.
Madill and. family, who took up resi
dence on Friday, replacing Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Flett who have moved to
Norwood. Mr. Madill was originally
from New Brunswick.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Rae, Brantford,
spent Sunday with the former's
mother, Mrs. D. W. Rae.
Mrs. Alvin Moffat has been a pat
ient in Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital
for the past two weeks, Mrs. Moffat
is making a good recovery following
surgery. Her many friends wish her
a speedy return to good health.
Members of the Canadian Girls in
Training with their leaders were
guests of the Fordwich group on
Monday night. Gorrie United Church
group were also invited. It was the
affiliation service for the Fordwich
group, of which Mrs. Harold Pollock
is leader.
John MacNaughton was a Toronto
visitor on Monday.
Bill Hart, St. Catharines, spent the
week-end at his home here.
Allen Munro received word this
past week that his brother, Donald is
ill in a Toronto hospital.
Mr. Percy Copeland, who has been
a patient in Wingham General Hos
pital, is now home and improving.
Merwyn and Mrs. Grainger had as
their guests last week the former’s
three brothers, Howard Grainger, De
troit, Clarence from Wallaceburg, and
Stanley Grainger of London. The four
brothers enjoyed a hunt during the
three open days. Week-end visitors at
the Grainger home were Mr. and Mrs.
Franklin, of Michigan. Mr. Franklin
is a brother th Mrs. Grainger.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Graham have
gone to live at Fordwich where Mr.
Graham is employed at the Carnation
Milk factory, Fordwich South.
W.I. Rug Displayed
At Royal Winter Fair
WROXETER—The rug entered in
the provincial contest by the Wroxeter
Women’s Institute, which received
first prize for Guelph area, was on
display at the pioneer exhibit at the
Royal Winter Fair, Toronto. Mrs.
Agnew, of Weston, was in charge of
this booth and said the rug had been
admired with offers to purchase it if
for sale.
The rug was made by the members
of the local Institute and was de
signed by Mrs. Charles Cathers. It
was a log house with trees, flowers,
walk, etc., even the smoke from the
chimney and in red letters at the
bottom of the design the words
“Old Home.”

“Just burning it up for junk,” ex
plained Frank Micks, of West Wal
laceburg when town firemen arrived
at his place. Frank had set an old car
on fire and was standing by watching
it when the fire truck pulled up.
