The meeting was ar­ ranged by Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton, who presided. “Faith” was the chosen theme and the title of a topic given in which the speaker said, “Faith is something more than belief. It is the power and glory of religion for it breathes the breath of life into the frigid dogmas of creed and form. Members were interested to see the picture of Miss Grace Patterson, who was guest speaker at the spring thankoffering meeting. Mrs. Gilbert Howes described a recent holiday spent in the North where she said nature was at its best with lake, woods* and the birds. The speaker transported her listeners to a land of enchantment which had inspired Pauline Johnston to write poetry such as “The Song My Paddle Sings.” Mrs. J. H. Wylie read the Scripture lesson and Mrs. Jim Sanderson led in prayer. Plans were made to hold a special ‘ meeting in October to which other organizations and all women of the church will be inyited, with a re­ turned missionary to speak. Mrs. Howes was named to make arrange­ ments for the speaker. Members were reminded that a bale will be packed in the early fall for overseas. A letter from headquarters stressed the need for clothing. Children Will Go To Camp The Howick Lions Club is again sponsoring a camp for boys and girls at Kitchagami, in co-operation with the Listowel Recreational Committee and Rotary Club. Attend Anniversary Several members of Forest Lodge A.F. & A.M. were in Toronto on Sun­ day afternoon to attend the service of thanksgiving held at Exhibition Park to mark the 100th anniversary of the Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M. of Canada. The service was conducted by R.W. Bro. the Most Reverend W. L. Wright, D.D., D.C.L. The lesson was read by R.W. Bro. the Reverend H. G. Cleg­ horn. The sermon was preached by Bro. the Reverend W. Harold Young, M.A. D.D. Organist and choirmaster was Charles Peaker, Mus. D.F.R, C.O., and a choir of approximately 200 sang two anthems, “O Lord We Trust in Thee Alone,” Han'del, and “Great Is the Lord,” Willan. imand approx Qand,h Gata The 48th Highlander band was attendance and there was a parade of Grand Lodge officers, some of whom came from overseas to attend Grand Lodge which is in session Saturday and Monday at the Coliseum building in Exhibition Park. The grand- stand .was completely filled by members and their families, many of whom had travelled from all parts of Ontario by chartered bus. The grand master of Ontario is M.W. Bro. J. A. Hearn. The speaker traced the progress of Masonry in Ontario for the past 100 years and stated that one hundred years ago there were 41 lodges. The colorful sight and the singing of the well-beloved hymns of the church by such a vast audience was inspiring. Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton and Mr. John MacNaughton spent Sunday in Toronto with Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Wearring and attended the service held by the Masonic Lodges at Ex­ hibition Park, marking their 100th anniversary. Miss Marilyn Timm is spending two weeks at Bruce Beach.
