At the end of the day there’s nothing more
exciting than Dad’s voice to report when he will
be home for dinner. •
It makes such a big difference to little people who
have waited all day for Daddy’s voice. It makes
a difference to your wife, too—she likes to have
some warning when you have been delayed.
This is just one of the countless ways your
telephone pays its way as it makes life happier,
easier, more secure.

WHEAT PRODUCERS ASK
MARKETING ROAM
The Ontario Federation Agricul
ture wheat producers annual meeting
in Toronto recently voted in favour
of preparing for a vote in setting up
a marketing board with both negot
iating and agency marketing-power,
says James Powers, Bruce County
Fieldman.
Kent County delegation informed
the meeting that they favoured a mar
keting board with negotiating power
only, as the bean growers in the area
syere successful by having a mini
mum price negogiated with the buy
ers, A producers’ fund of 15c was col
lected to handle surplus production
into an European market at a lower
price than the domestic price, Agency
marketing offers additional power to
the marketing board by having com
plete control over the product and in
event the buyers refuse to negotiate
minimum prices, it provides producers
with another means of selling. Speak
ing on the experiences of other mar
keting boards, in the fruits and vege
tables, the opinion was strongly in
favor of including agency marketing
in the vote because even though it
may be used, it serves as an import
ant ace in the hole when negotiating
minimum prices.
A smaller wheat crop is predicted
for Ontario, soft wheat this year and
a 16% reduction in the U.S. from last
year. The European countries report
favourable acreage but United King
dom and Scandinavian countries re
port production down. Britain was our
largest purchaser for winter wheat
and flour.

MISSING BOY, 15,
SLEEPS IN SHOW ’
Wolfgang Mertz, 15, missing
Saturday from his home,
since
was
found on Thursday, sleeping behind
the screen of the Century Theatre.
Deputy Police Chief Ewan Cameron
said the boy had lived behind the
screen since he disappeared. He was
reported to be restless and homesick
for Germany. Disheveled and dirty,
he had been living on chocolate bars.
Players are turning in their cards
very well these days. Before a handi
cap may be set, according to R.C.G.A.
rules, the player must turn in at least
six eighteen hole scores. Individual
nines are used to complete the quota.
All scores, good and bad, should be
turned in as played in order to fairly
and honestly assess the proper handi
cap.

Rains this week have made a won
derful difference to both greens and
fairways. The markers on the tees
should help to maintain better grass
by distributing the wear over a wider
area and permitting the fronts to get
re-established.

Although” most of us observe golf
etiquette by remaining quiet on the
tee, we sometimes are careless on the
fairway and more particularly on the
putting greens. When a person is
putting, unless they have indicated
need for a marker, all others should
stand well clear of the hole and re
main quiet. A distance of at least
ten to twelve feet from both the hole
and the person putting should be
maintained,

followed.
