The debate was -conducted ■ in parliamentary style, Mr. Wm. Clegg , being the speaker, and the debaters | were divided, there being supporters. of the Government and also the Op- . position. By nature of the cenununist state it would seem that the power to make decisions for the whole communist world is vested in one man. The U.S-, Congress and Senate last week gave like powers to President Eisenhower. If Lord Russell is correct in his evaluation of present international trends, the whole future of the human race lies in the hands of two individuals, the supreme heads of the two opposing factions in the world today. Let's hope they are both aware of the gravity of their decisions * I close with the singing of a hymn. The remainder of the afternoon was spent quilting. Supper was served at the close by Mrs. Harvey McMichael I and Mrs, Win. H^rt< who arranged the I meeting. Attend Skating Tarty .Fifteen members of the Young People’s Union, United Church, at tended a skating party at Gorrie on Wednesday evening, as guests of the Gorrie group. Following an evening at the rink the group returned to the church where games and a sing song were enjoyed. Members of the Gorrie group served refreshments. Miss Berva Gallaher, president of the Wroxeter group, moved a vote of thanks on behalf of the visitors. Women’s Institute The February meeting of the Wo men’s Institute will be held this week at the home of Mrs. J, H. Wylie. Mrs. A Moffat will have charge of the motto "Invest your time instead of spending it." Mrs. Frank Earls will give a book review 'The Gypsy in the Parlour" by Marjorie Sharpe. Radio Evaluation will be the subject discussed by Mrs. D. S. Mac-Naughton. Roll call, a country and its national flower. Hostesses, Mrs. John Lane, Mrs. J. H. Wylie and Miss Margaret Jardine. 1 AYR AREA YOUTH DIES OF INJURIES A IB-year-old Ayr district youth died in Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, as a result of an accident in a bush last week. William Van Oostveen, R. R. 2, Ayr, was assisting his brother in a bush, when evidently he ran the wrong way when a tree that was being cut down fell and struck him on the head.
