MacIntyre gave a very interesting
talk, based on the study book entitled
’’Japan, China and Christ.” This was
followed by a descriptive talk on the
Beauties of England, by the hostess.
Suitable prayers were offered and
hymns sung, after which Rev. Mr.
Ball gave a brief missionary address.
A tasty lunch was served and a social
half-hour enjoyed by those in attend
ance. The next meeting

A Red Cross Rally was held in the
Township Hall, Gorrie. The presi
dent, Mr. Hartwell Strong, took
charge. Miss Annie Murray gave a
very splendid report on the work done
by the society in this district. Follow
ing the report by the treasurer, Mr.
Ewart Whitfield, Major Watson, of
Toronto, addressed the meeting giv
ing a detailed account of how the
money which had been canvassed was
spent. In conclusion an appeal was
made regarding the canvass to be
launched next week. Duty calls — let
us answer it liberally. Dancing by
Maxine Bolton was enjoyed and the
meeting was followed by a very well-
attended dance.

John Reidt
Following a short illness,
Reidt, of Gorrie, passed on at his resi
dence, oti Friday, September 13th, in
his 73rd year. He was bom in Perth
County and was married at Listowel
in December, 1900, to Ernestine
Brown. Mr. Reidt operated a farm
until he retired to Gorrie in 1938. He
leaves to mourn his passing, his wife,
