Mr. John Gear, of Waterloo, spent the week-end at his home here. .Miss Mabel Bosman, of Goderich, visited on Sunday under the parental roof. Mr. Carl Deans, of Wingham, and Miss Alberta Osbaldeston, of Goder­ ich, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Norman McDowell. It is our duty again this week to chronicle the death of the oldest resi­ dent of this community, in the person of Miss Annie Harrison, aged 80 years, 10 months and five days. Miss Harrison passed to the Great Beyond on Wednesday, Sept. 11th, after a lingering illness. She was born on the 6th Con. of East Wawanosh Nov. 6, 1859, the daughter of the late Mathias Harrison and Elizabeth Mason, and was one of a family of six. The de­ ceased spent some 35 years of her life in the West, coming back to Ontario about 12 years ago, and for the past five years made her home with her niece, Mrs. Fred J. Cook. She leaves to mourn her passing, two sisters, Mrs. John Scott and Mrs. Wm. Scott, two brothers and three sisters predeceased her. The deceased was a devoted Christian woman ready to help others at all times, and giving assistance to those about her who were in need. The funeral service which was held from the home of her niece, Mrs. F. J. Cook, on Friday at 2 p.m., was largely attended. Rev. H. C. Wilson conducted the service. Rev. BLUEVALE To Plan Red Cross Drive Mrs. Jack Wick'stead, 3rd conces­ sion, Morris, was the hostess Thurs­ day afternoon for the regular monthly meeting of the Women’s- Institute. The president, Miss Jean' Elliott, pre­ sided. Following the opening exer- cises and the Roll Call, answered by naming an interesting fate about* one’s family tree. .Correspondence regard­ ing the Jam Making enterprise spon­ sored by the Women’s Institutes of Ontario and the Canadian Red. Cross Society, and the article submitted by the National War Savings Committee was the means of drawing out good disucssions. It was decided to ask for a public meeting to organize for the Red Cross campaign. Ebetoezer Anniversary Services Ideal weather added greatly to the •success of the anniversary services at Ebenezer Church on Sunday when the church was filled to capacity at both morning and evening services. The guest speaker was the Rev, R. Collin Todd, of Lucknow. His message at both services was strong and appeal­ ing, most suitable to world conditions at the present time. At the morning service a mixed quartette from Brus­ sels United Church, supplied the mu­ sic. The choir from the United Church at Belgrave furnished two an- , thems at the evening service when Rev. J. B, Townend, of Belgrave Un­ ited Church and Rev. F. G< Fowler, of Knox Presbyterian Church, Bluevale, assisted. The decorations of fall flow­ ers in the rich bright coloring added to the beauty of the service. Mr, and Mrs. Will Hutcheson, of Toronto, spent-Sunday at the Sander­ son home here.
