For another appealing appetizer chop chives very fine and mix with one-half cup cottage cheese softened ■with a little mayonnaise. Spread thickly on toasted .crackers or toast fingers. Press a sardine deep into each and dust with paprika. Three sardines well mixed with a package cream cheese, one-half tea spoon onion juice and a tablespoon minced pimiento or stuffed makes a good stuffing for stalks. Norse Grill is a filling Spread hot toasted slices of rye bread with butter and prepared mustard. Top with a slice of Swiss cheese or .snappy Canadian cheese. Arrange smoked sardines on the cheese. Schwalm & Son, for the past fourteen years, met with a most painful and distressing accident. He was in charge of the edger saws, used in trimming off the first boards cut from the log. This saw is operated at a high speed, and therefore, requires frequent lubri cation. It was while in the act of oil ing this machine that he was injured. Dogs Worry Bruce Sheep If the menace of wild dogs contin ues in the southern part of Bruce County during this summer, the rais ing of sheep by farmers of the district may have to ibe abandoned. During the winter there was scarcely a sign .of the wild creatures that harassed .flocks of sheep last summer and on several occasions killed young cattle, Ept with the coming of spring they are again in evidence. — Kincardine News. Finds Flare Parachute William Knox, Hullet Township farmer, came across a queer looking “umbrella” on one of his fields the other-day and reported it to .police. It turned out to be a silk flare parachute used in mock air bombing practice. It had a wing-spread of 12 feet support ed by guy ropes, with a flare holder atop. It was a queer looking apparat us to this Western Ontario farmer. Police sent it to headquarters to ,be forwarded to its right destination. Listowel Boy Seriously Burned Bobby Woods, five-year-old son of Mr, and Mrs. Robert Woods, of Lis towel, is- in hospital, suffering from critical burns to his left leg, received when his clothing caught fire while he was lighting a bonfire. Italy Plans Swiss Attack London — Sunday Dispatch said that Swiss circles in London had re ceived reports from a well-informed source 'that Switzerland may be “brought into the war within the next 48 hours.” “According to this infor mation, Mussolini is likely to proclaim at any moment Italy's decision to ‘pro tect’ Switzerland against aggression allegedly planned iby the Allies,” the paper’s story said.
