Pray­ er was offered by Miss Lois Elliott and Eldon Kipton read the ’Scripture. The society accepted an invitation of I the Brussels Y.P.S, for Monday even­ ing, Rev, F. G. Mrs. Keating was at the piano. The' lesson was read by Helen Yuill. The topic consisted of a paper based upon ex­ tracts taken from .Dale Carnegie’s book on "How to Make Friends and Influence People’’. During the busi­ ness session it was decided to cancel the meeting on Wednesday. April 24, so that the play group could present their play at that day. BLUEVALE the the Young People Plan Debate William Blackmore presided at weekly meeting of the Y.P.U. of United Church on Friday evening. The meeting was opened with singing a hymn and prayer by George Johns­ ton. During the business session it was decided to hold a debate in the near future "Resolved that women take a more active part-in every day life than men.” Instead of the regular topic, a .spelling match was -held with Smith Robertson and Harry* Wett- laufer as captains. This was an inter­ esting change of programme. Smith Robertson’s side was declared the win­ ders. . r Red Cross Shipment The following supplies were packed by the local Red Cross Society for forwarding to Red Cross Headquart­ ers and will go forward at once: 60 garments for refugee relief; 12 suits pyjamas; 24 pneumonia jackets; 24 ice bag covers; 60 pairs socks; 2 pair wristlets; 5 scarves; 4 sweaters, special meeting of the Society is to be'held on Thursday, of this week in the Belgrave work rooms.
