Presbyterial Visitation a Success A. very profitable as well as enjoy­ able evening was spent in the United Church last Monday evening when Rev, Anderson, Wingham, RcV. Snell, Ethel, and Rev. Mahoney, Brussels, also Laynian Frank Howson, Wing- hatrtj were present and many ques­ tions of interest were discussed fol­ lowing the devotional opening exer­ cises. There was a splendid attend­ ance and following the meeting re­ freshments were served in the church schoolroom by the Indies. This visi­ tation is a plan recommended by Presbytery and should prove very helpful to the different congregations. A period of games and contests were enjoyed with Miss Keith in charge. There were 25 in attendance. Mission Band United Church Margaret Moffat presided over the December meeting of the Mission Band on Saturday last. The Call to Worship by the leader was followed by the opening hymn “From Green­ land’s icy mountain” by Bishop Heb­ er. The Lord’s Prayer was repeated in unison. “Jesus bids us shine” was the second hymn. The Scripture les­ son, taken from Luke 17: 11-19, was read by Mary Meahan. The golden text “I will give thanks,, was repeat­ ed by the entire class, jean Moffat sang very sweetly “Smile, Give Thanks an<> Pray." All the ladies of the congregation are cordially invited to be present. Salem Circle Guests at Manse Mrs. A. M, Grant was hostess the Mission Circle of Salem United Church and their leader, Mrs. John Gowdy, for their December meeting. “Jesus the Light of the World” was the theme. “O little town of Bethle­ hem" was sung as a solo and the res­ ponse “O come let us adore Him.” The candle lighting ceremony was beautifully carried out. The story of the Holy Fire was told followed by the hymn “Thou, whose almighty word". The prayer was given by Eth­ el Willits. The president, Vera Shar­ pin ,presided. Refreshments and a so­ cial hour was enjoyed at the close of the meeting. Bride and Groom Honored Mr. and Mrs. Bill Durst were guests of honor at a party and presentation in the Town Hail Wednesday evening last when friends in Wroxeter and community presented them with two beautiful' occasional chairs and a fern­ ery. The Gorrie Orchestra provided good music for the dance which fol­ lowed the presentation. Community Christmas Tree The annual Community Xmas Tree for which funds are being collected', will take place on Dec. 16th, in the afternoon.
