The W.M.S. of the Presbyterian Church are holding their summer soc­ ial meeting at the home of Mrs. Robt. Ross on July 20th. Mrs. (Rev.) K. The regular monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held last Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Rhys Pollock. As the day was fine, all ad­ journed to the lawn, where Miss Grace Richardson was in charge of the meeting. After the opening exer­ cises the ladies decided to hold a com­ munity picnic at the 10th Bridge on Tuesday, July 25th, when all were in­ vited to come and bring a laden bas­ ket, Committees were appointed for lunch and games and to see that all had a way of getting to the grounds, The roll call was answered by "My first school and my first teacher.” As far as possible the program was given j by the school children. Miss Jean Welwood gave a humorous reading, The Family Joke. Douglas Sparling sang “Jesus’ Little Lamb.” The motto “Look more, read more, and broaden your outlook” was in charge of Cath­ arine Mowbray, who gave a very in­ teresting paper. Current Events were in charge of Mrs. J. B. Morrison. Lit­ tle Miss Annetta-Purdon, of Detroit, sang “The Umbrella Man”. Mis Isabel Gibbs read “The Farmer Lad”, and Roberta Mow bray recited “The Robin and the Fairy,” by Edgar Guest. A geography match led by Velma Scott and Mrs. Mowbray, was very interest­ ing but threatened to last some time, so it ended in a draw, with |Mrs. Spar­ ling and Mrs. Mowbray still going . strong in Geography lore. Lunch was served and a social half-hour wa's much enjoyed by all. The next meet­ ing will be held at the home of Miss Grace Richardson, the president. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Ross and Miss Olive Terriff visited last Tues­ day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hen'derson, of Lucknow, and many will be pleased to k'now that Lloyd is progressing' fine after his recent cident. Mrs. Newey, of Detroit, spent week-end with Mrs. A. Emerson. Mrs. Joe Latronica and Mr. Mrs. Will Latronica and children, of Turnberry, spent Sunday with the former’s sister, Mrs. Chas. Mrs. Reuben Tiffin returned last Thursday from visiting with friends in Detroit. Miss Kathleen Simpson, of Culross, is visiting with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiil Conn. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Paterson two children, of Detroit, spent week-end with his father, Mr. F. ,McK. Paterson. Mrs. Paterson and the children are staying for the next month. Mr. and Mrs.’ Gordon Walsh spent the week-end with relatives at Fort Erie and were accompanied home by Elaine, who spent the past two weeks there. Mines who has not been enjoying the best of health lately, was taken to the Toronto General Hos­ pital where he will undergo treatment. The farm, livestock,, implements and household furnishings belonging to the estate of the late Miss Jessie Gray and Andrew Grey were sold on Thurs­ day afternoon at a largely attended auction. Good prices prevailed. Bilack Bros., of Bluevale,, who already own over 1,000 acres* bought the 150-acfe farm for $4,200. The Grey farm was first owned by the father of the late owner, Andrew Grey, a native of Scot­ land; and had been in the family for 80 years. Nieces and nephews inherit the estate. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ramsay were week-end visitors with Rev. J. W. Cur­ rie and Mrs. Currie at their cottage at Bruce Beach. Miss Ruby G.
