A turkey dinner was served after which a program and social time was enjoyed. Rev. A, Rapson presided for the program when Mr, Stephen Dundas played several 1 violin solos, accompanied by Mrs, Dun­ das on the piano. They also ac­ companied the guests in the singing of several Christmas carols/ Readings were given by Mrs. R. Molitor and a very practical talk was given by Rev. G. Strome depicting the true Christmas spirit. v Women’s Institute president Mrs. W". Mack welcomed the guests and several contests were enjoyed? Appreciation, on behalf of the guests, was expressed to the Women’s Institute by Mr, George Stevenson and Mr, Chas. Green. ' o Christmas Meeting Christmas meeting of W.S.W.S. of the Evangelical Church was held on.Thursday evening with a good attendance.'The church dec­ orations included a lighted'Christ- mas tree. Mrs. R. Krueger was in charge of devotion assisted by Mrs. E. Hendrick. Mrs. J. Bishop favored with • a vocal solo. A playlet entitled “Christmas Windows” was directed by Mrs. Krueger and Mrs.' L. Hey. It portrayed Christmas celebra­ tions on the various mission fields supported 'by the church. Reports were given by differ­ ent convenors with the president in charge of business. Bake sale was reported to have netted the society $79 and the sale of Christ­ mas cards $112.75. Carpets have been laid in the church and the group decided to purchase more dishes for the kitchen. Snell was guest speaker at the Christmas meet­ ing of James St. Woman’s As­ sociation last Thursday. Essen­ tials ' of a Christian Christmas, are the gladness of • Christmas which is hope; the spirit of Christmas which is peace and the heart of Christmas which is love, Mr. Snell said. Mrs. William Kernick was chairman of. the program with the theme “God’s Gift of Light.” Jesus is the light of the world and true Christians reflect that light in their homes .and com­ munities, she said. Mrs. W. C. Allison assisted in the worship service. Mrs. Andrew Dougail and Mrs. Jack Coates contribut­ ed piano duets. Mrs. Harvey Pollen reported that $550 had been collected by the women’s organizations in a carivafc Which was made in place of having a fowl supper. This money will be applied to the kitchen fund. Class Holds Party The Builders S.S, Class held their Christmas meeting on Tues­ day evening with a turkey din­ ner. f President, Wilmar Wein, directed the program. Mrs. Roy Hill Relatives here received word of the death of Mrs. Roy Hill of Hillsdale, Mich, The former Marion Fitzgerald, she was united in marriage to Roy Hill, a former well-known resident of this community. They lived for several years in De­ troit but had recently resided in Hillsdale. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Roberta, at home and a son, Ralph, of California. Personal Items Mr. and Mrs. John Galloway and Mr. and Mrs, Ray Morlock attended the funeral of.Mrs. Roy Hill in Port Huron on Monday. Mrs. M, Gunn who spent some weeks in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, has returned' to her home. Mrs. Francis Clark who has not enjoyed good .health for some time is at present a' patient in South Huron Hospital,, Exeter.-Mrs. O.-N. Braun has return­ ed to Caseville, Mich.’ after vis­ iting with relatives here, Mr. A. Bailey of St. Cathar­ ines spent Sunday with* Mr. and Mrs. C. Radford.
