Mrs. Otto Walker received a message from Detroit informing her of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Dan Dyer, 93, formerly of Exeter, which occurred in that city on November 24, Mrs. George Wallace is under the doctor’s care suffering from infection in her leg, Many relatives of the late Mrs. George Dalrymple attend­ ed the funeral service which was held in Hensall on Monday. Mrs. ■ Dalrymple was the former Mary A. Venner and spent her early life here. Her husband prede­ ceased her several years ago. Burial was in McTaggart’s Cemetery. Pte, Alex Walker and two sol­ dier friends from Wolseley Bar­ racks, London, spent the week­ end with Mr. and Mrs. Otto Walker. Sponsor Successful Bezoar A successful bazaar, spon­ sored by the Ladies’ Aid and the Marian Ritchie Evening Aux­ iliary was held in the S.S. room on Friday evening. Rev, "S. Kerr was chairman for a short program which con- ssted of a piano solo by Joyce Ker slake, a monolpgue by Mrs. Gerald Carey, and solos by Carol Ann Dow and Mrs. Robert Hulley. There was a fine display of home baking, aprons and fancy work and buying was brisk. The fish-pond was well patronized by the younger folk present. Lavender, who acted as cap­ tain of the Girl Guides, received her camping license, and Mrs. Earl Rowe, Brownie Owl, re­ ceived her warrant as a guider. Mrs. G. Dalrymple Usborne Native Mrs. George Dalrymple, 73, passed away in Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, having been a patient for the past six weeks. She was the former Mary A. Venner of Chiselhurst and had * lived in Hensall 11 years. She was a member of the Hensall United Church. Her husband pre- ‘ deceased her. in 1946.' Surviving are two sons, Wil­ mer, Chiselhurst; Garnet, Sea­ forth; four daughters, (Susan) Mrs. Len Purdy, Hensall; (Lily) Mrs. Ward Forrest, Zurich; (Ruby) Mrs. David Treibner, Kippen; (Peggy) Mrs. Charles Dunlop, Blenheim; 20 grand­ children and eight great grand­ children; two brothers, Wesley Venner, Hensall; William, Chisel­ hurst; and one sister, Mrs. Archibald Ryckman, Exeter. Funeral services were con­ ducted on Monday from the ■ Bonthron funeral home, Hensall, by Rev. C. D. Daniel. Interment was in McTaggart’s cemetery. Kinsmen Meet Hensall Kinsmen held a joint dinner meeting and advertising night at the Kosy Korner rest­ aurant on Thursday evening and made plans for their annual Christmas sale. Ladies night will be observed Thursday, December 13. Presi­ dent L. Tiberio chaired the meet­ ing. Honored At Reception A reception for Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Parker was held in the town hall Wednesday evening with a large crowd attending. Len Clark read the presentation address and Jack Upshall pre­ sented the couple <with a purse of money. The Norris orchestra furnished music for the dance. Wins Christmas Cake Mrs. Percy Webster of Hen­ sall was the lucky winner of the Christmas cake in a draw Saturday night at Drysdale’s hardware. The ticket was drawn by Reeve Norman Jones. This project was sponsored by Hen­ sall Kinettes and the cake was made by Mrs, Wm. Caldwell of Kippen. Proceeds were for serv­ ice work. At the last meeting of the club held at the home of Mrs. Frank Ellwood, the group donated $10 to the Red Shield campaign and $25 to Hungarian Relief- Thrifty Kippenettes Thrifty Kippenettes held their third meeting at the home of their leader, Mrs. W. J. F. Bell, Saturday afternoon. Ten mem­ bers answered the roll call. Mrs. Bell 'showed the girls how to do shirring and asked them to do a sample at home. She also told them about stay stitching, and the girls are do­ ing this kind of stitching on their project “Pyjamas.” Roll call at their next meeting will be “A pattern alteration I have learned to make.” For their home assignment the girls will work on their garments and rec­ ord books. Saturday, December 8, is the date scheduled for their fourth meeting at the home of Mrs. Bell. Persona! Spence celebrated their fifty-fifth wed­ ding anniversary on Tuesday, November 20. They received many cards of congratulations including one from Hon. Leslie Frost and one from the Prime Minister of Canada. They spent the day with their daughter, Mrs. Harry Hawkins and Mr. Hawkins of Anderson. Jack Thomson had a last Wednesday for a Band quilt. I Win Prizes At Bazaar The annual bazaar, sponsored by St, Boniface Parish, of Zurich, was held in the Community Cen­ tre, Zurich, It was attended by hundreds of patrons from the village and surrounding commu­ nities. $1,160.00 was realized. This bazaar was sponsored by the Catholic Women’s League and Holy Name Society. Winners of three cash prizes were: $125.00 to Joseph Foster, Zurich; $50 to J. B. McCann, Dashwood; $25 to Mrs. T.
