ing at the schoolhouse Monday
at 4 p.m., with Margaret Brock"

school, and her pupils held a
Hallowe’en frarty at the school
house Friday .evening. Judges of

Increase Cancer Fund

per cent, Mayor R. E. Pooley
told the Exeter district chapter
at a meeting Monday night.

objective had been raised from
$17,000 to $24,500.

Forty-two percent of all cam
paign funds is used for research,
the mayor said. Seventeen per
cent goes to welfare work and
14 percent for education.

first conducted by the Exeter
chapter and the mayor felt con
fident that the total could be in
creased another year.

number of neighboring commu
nities were present.

ager at the Bank of Nova Scotia,
was elected treasurer to succeed
former' manager, Harold Kelson.
Mrs. J. G. Dunlop, chairman of
the service committee, reported
that over 2,000 dressings have
been made by women’s groups
in the district, including Huron-
dale W.I., RCAF Centralia Cath
olic Women’s League and Prot
estant Altar Guild, Jamef Street
Women’s Association and the
Eastern Star.
. Donations to the gift cupboard,
which provides supplies for local
cancer patients, have been re
ceived from the O.E.S. and
James St. W.A. Mrs. AJlan Fraser was appointed to take charge
of the cupboard.
Mrs. Dunlop also reported that
she had received over $130 in “In
Memorium” donations from
friends of a Henkali woman who
died recently from'cancer. Be
fore her death, the victim re
quested that friends make dona
tions rather than send flowers Jo
her funeral.

ing donations to the Cancer So
ciety, are now available at all
district funeral homes. Donors
are provided with official re
ceipts for income tax purposes.

Huron Hospital and Superinten
