Mrs. Arthur Dunlop, of cardine, is spending this visiting with her mother, William Pepper. Mr, Dick Kinsman, who lias been, a patient in Seaforth hos­ pital for the past few weeks, is improving. Mrs. Donald McKinnon, who underwent an operation in Clin­ ton hospital, has returned home, Mr. W. A. Kerr, of Malton, spent the weekend with his wife and family. At a meeting in London, Mrs. G. Hess won a garden flower table lamp. Personal Items Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lindsay of Chatham spent the weekend with the latter’s parents, Mr, and Mrs, John Henderson. Mrs. Alberta MacBeath spent the weekend with Mrs. Gordon Heard in London, Miss Shirley Chapman R.N. of Sarnia was a weekend visitor with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lome Chapman. Mr. Harold Bell of Toronto vi­ sited this week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Wm. R, Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Vic. Stan of Lon­ don visited this week with Mr. and Mrs. Len. Noakes. Kin- week Mrs.Girl Guides Win Awards The Girt Guides and Brownies of Hensall were complimented on Tuesday evening on their achieve­ ments over the period of the last year at a Flying Up arranged by the Hensall Girl Guides Associ­ ation. Each girl was privileged to invite two guests with parents given first choice. Fifty-nine per­ sons in all attended. Guests pf honour were three Girl Guide Commissioners, Miss L. Seigner of Exeter, District Commissioner; Mrs. J. M. Mon­ teith, Stratford, Division Commis­ sioner, and Mrs. Bruce Connell, Galt, Area Commissioner. Seven Brownies were enrolled by Miss Seigner. Twenty Service Stars and many awards were pre­ sented. Jean Lavender received her Tawny Owl Warrant from Mrs. Monteith, She was also pre­ sented with a service star mark­ ing the completion of her eleventh year in the Girl Guide movement- four as a Brownie, five as a guide and two as a ieader. v Three girls-Peggy Goddard, Carol Brown and Mary Scane re­ ceived their Brownie Wings from Mrs. Connell and flew up to Guid­ es where they were met by their new Patrol Leader, Gwen Spen­ cer. Gwen Spencer also received five badges earned during the year, and the Little House Em­ blem which is1 given as an extra award for having completed five homemaker badges. Mrs. Connell,' in her campfire talk, said this emblem is a big step not only towards the Gold Cord, but also towards a successful career as wife, mother ^.nd homemaker. Largest number of badges earn­ ed during the year went to Jane Horton. She received six, all but one of which she-^completed out­ side of Guide meetings. Mr. James A. Paterson, Village Clerk, presen­ ted Citizen Badges to Beth God­ dard, Jane Horton and Gwen Spencer. Featured in the lunch was a cake decorated suitably to con­ gratulate the girls on this fine year’s work. theGoderich Pavilion proved an ideal setting on Friday evening when General Coach Works of Hensall entertained their employ­ ees, and their wives to a turkey dinner, served banquet style. The Christmas decora­ tions in the church will be con­ vened by the Auxiliary members. Members contributed a voluntary collection to' be forwarded to “Little Mike” in London, Miss Mary Goodwin favoured with .a pleasing, solo accompanied by Mrs. J. C. Names Officers The Legion Hall, Hensall, de­ corated with Christmas motifs was the setting for the annual Christmas meeting of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Tuesday evening 6th. Elected to office as president was Mrs. E, R. Davis; vice-presi­ dents, Mrs. R. Taylor, sr; and Mrs). William Smale; secretary, Mrs. Wm. Brown; treasurer, Mrs. Jack Simmons; Sgt. at Arms, Mrs. H. Horton; Executive, Mrs. Alda Simmons, Mrs. A. Clark, Mrs. Gar­ net Allan, Mrs. Howard Smale, and Mrs. Fred- Aikenhead. The date for the raffle draw was set for Saturday December 17. A Christmas' box will be pack­ ed for their war Veteran at West­ minster hospital. Mrs. R. Taylor sr. was the winner of the mystery prize. A recreational period of bingo was enjoyed and a chicken lunch served. Gifts were distri­ buted to the members. Mrs. S. Rannie and Mrs. E. Davis convened the meeting, and the retiring president Mrs. Mc­ Kelvie chaired the meeting. The recreational period was under the direction of Mrs. W. Brown and Mrs. Gordon Munn. Basket Of Gifts Given To Bride Complimenting Mrs. Robert Talbot, the former Margaret Reid, a recent bride, neighbours and friends numbering over 40 met at the home of her parents, Mr .and Mrs. Norval Reid, Wed­ nesday evening to present her with miscellaneous gifts. They .were presented to her in a decor­ ated basket in color schemes of pink and white. Miss Marilyn Anderson read the address and Miss Carol Faber and Miss Carol Richardson made the presenta­ tions.
