Four Cars Collide
In Town Crashes
Two accidents within an hour
of each other caused over $1,000
damage in Exeter on Taesday.
'Cars driven by Walter Gunning
and Max Learn, both of town,
collided at the intersection of
Main and Hill streets, The Gun-
ning vehicle was turning south
onto the highway front Hill street
when it was struck by the Hearn
ear, going north on Main.
A child in the Learn ear was
taken to hospital hut later re-
leased after a cut lip was treated.
Both Cara were badly damaged.
A ear driven by Mrs. Clayton
Prouty, of R.R. 1 Hay, and a
laundry truck operated by Wil-
liam Gerald (framer, London,
collided at the corner of Main
and Waterloo streets. Although
damage was extensive, no one
was injured,
The truck, travelling south on
the highway, struck the Prouty
car as its driver turned north
onto the road from Alexander
Street.
Both accidents happened early
in the afternoon. Exeter Police
Chief Reg Taylor investigated.

Rally Day was Observed in
James Street United .Church ,Sun-
day morning when 351 .scholars
paraded from the school xoom
intoo the centre pews of the
church. Of these 145 were mem-
bers of the primary department.
Superintendent Carirey Gann
was in eharge .of the service and
a janior choir under Mr. Lawr-
ence Wein led in the service Q.

Mr. Cann spoke of the faithful
work of the teachers and said
that 111 scholars had had perfect
attendance during the year. He
read the names :of 19 who were
joining the Beginner's .depart -
went from the cradle roll, this.

boys were promoted from the
Primary to the intermediate

Mr. Drysdale and the late J.
W. Bonthron started in business
in Hensall in March, 1911, •suc-
ceeding J, and C. McDonnell in
the hardware, furniture and
funeral business. In 1942, the
partnership was dissolved and
Mr. Drysdale continued with the
hardware, heating and plumbing.
Three years later he sold the
plumbing and heating depart-
ment to Edward Fink and in-
corporated the hardware busi-
ness to include his two sons,
Robert P. and John W, Drysdale,
both of Hensall.
Surviving besides his widow,
the former Ella Ortwein, and his
two sons, are one daughter, Kath-
ryn, Mrs. Barry Williams, Kit-
chener; one brother, Jack, in
Vancouver, D.C.; three sisters,
Mrs. W. A. MaeLaren, Goderich
Mrs. Roy Stowell, Stettler, Alta.,
and Mrs, Ella McNeil, of Erskine,
Alta.
-The Bonthron Funeral Home
was in charge of the funeral.

Charbe Youths
With Car Theft
Three youths from Hamilton
were charged. with car theft on
Tuesday after a liensalll .couneii-
lor spotted them stealing money
from milk bottlesin that town.
'Councillor Harry Hoy watched
the boys, two 17 years old and
one 15, playing with a stick. One
threw it onto 'a verandah, an-
other went after it and took
money front a milk bottle there.
The councillor called Hensall
Polyiceman E. R. Davis who in
turn sought assistance from OPP
'Constable John Ford, of Exeter.
Just as the provincial con-
stable was .questioning the three,
a reoprt came over the police
radio •that a platform truck had
been stolen from Hamilton. A
search around Hensall revealed
the vehicle on a back street.
The youths, A. L. Smith, 17;.
Gordon Galleon, 17; and the juve-
nile were turned over to Hamil-
ton pollee,
Recover Exeter Car
A car stolen early Monday
morning from an Exeter litnew•ay
was found by police In Toronto
on Tuesday.
The car, owned by Mrs. Helge
Jensen, 4'2.6 bIarlborougih St., was
taken sometime .after midnight
from the driveway beside the
house. Thieves• apparently drove
it until the ,supply of gas ran out.
