TIi1< OLDEST MAN IN ,TIIZ WORLD. -
It is claimed that the oldest man in the
world resides in Caledonia, Columbia
County, Wisconsin. The name of the
person is Joseph Crele. He was born in
Detroit, and the record of his baptism in
the Catholic cbureb of that city shows
that be Is now one hundred and thirty-
nine years old. Crelc was married in
New Orleans one hundred and nine years
ago, whence he removed to I'rairie du
Chien while Wisconsin was yet a province
of France. He now resides with a
daughter by his third wife, who is over C. M. M,.INTOSII, Master,
seventy years of age. The old gentle-
man is quite active, and can walk several
mike a day.
The Galt Reformer says : " The Tillage of

lead. The ."Doer Waterloo gets rid of such
a man the better."
The late Douglas Jerrold, than whom
there *as not a more kind-hearted man, al-
th.ubh it suited many of the thin skinned
reeiplents of bis wit, to speak otherwise, wM
ooe night in company suturing Horton that
he always kept his word. "I don't doubt
