To Build At Inters etion
Permit for construction of an-
other service station #it the inter-
section of Highways .4 and 83 was
granted by counell to Canadian
#'etrafina Ltd. The company .plans
to build on the northwest corner
of the intersection. There are
two other stations there now,
Although council members felt
the town has sufficient stations
now, they did not feel they had
the authority to refuse the per-
mit,
Councillor Edward Brady said;
"We have no reason or grounds.
for not giving them permission,
We may feel there's enough gar-
ages in town now and that this
will make it tougher for the pre-
sent operators but there's nothing
we can do ailbout it," Other mem-
bers agreed.
Reeve McKenzie said the com-
pany would build outside, of the
town if council refused them.
Reference was made to Clinton
which recently refused to allow
construction of a station, Clerk
C. V, Pickard said that town has
16 stations within its boundaries.
Exeter has nine within its limits
and three just outside.
