The summer playground open-
ed Monday with a record first
day attendance of 348,
This week is known as Get -
Acquainted Week and the offic-
ial opening ceremonies were con-
ducted by Director Dmig Smith,
Mayor '11,. E. Pooley, Rev, IL J.
Snell and Sheldon Wein, presi-
dent elect of Exeter Kinsmen,
sponsors of the playground,
Mayor Pooley 'welcomed the
Children On behalf of the town
and his councillors and expressed
his pleasure that Exeter could
offer such excellent playground
facilities. Mr. Wein brought greet-
ings from •the Kinsmen and Rev.
Snell gave a short message on
"increasing in stature."
Tuesday Morning saw the child-
ren off on a gigantic scaveeger
hunt after 40 listed items. We'd
like to thank all the parents for
so generously •supporting this
project. The children were divid-
ed into five teams and Sandra
Walper's team gathered the most
articles, 384. Leslie Heywood's
team was a close second with 328
articles.
Trudy Pickard is capably hand-
ling Victoria Park this week. Jul-
ia Dunlop will he there 'next week.
A scavenger hunt was conducted
from Victoria Park also, with
equally good results.
Swimming lessons commence
Monday, July 11, at Riverview
Park. Lessons will be held on
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
The Sorority hopes to 'have the
wading pool 'completed 'during
the week of July 11 at Victoria
Park.
