Christmas services were V O’Neil, at St. James Church on Sun­ day evening. Special Christmas hymns were used and the offertory anthem was “Carol Sweetly Carol.” The Rector chose as his text, -Gen. 49:10 “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from be­ neath his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be,” from which lie delivered a most inspiring Xmas message. S.S. No. 2 Christmas Tree and Concert A very enjoyable programme was given on Wednesday evening of last week when the pupils of the school section No. 2, assisted by some of the older members of the section held their annual concert. The children gave recitations, dialogues, panto­ mines, probably the outstanding’ feat­ ure being the Christmas Bells, Drill, Dialogues were also given by the old­ er members of the 2nd and 4th con* cessions, Mr. J, McTavish was the genial chairman and iMr. Raymond Elliott expressed the appreciation of all to the teacher, Miss Deans. Santa Claus arrived at the close of the pro­ gramme and distributed treats and gifts which made the children very happy. School Held Concert The lower room of the Public School .here was again crowded with parents and friends on Wednesday afternoon last week when the schol­ ars of the school held their annual Entertainment and Xmas Tree. The children all took their parts well in solos, comic and Christmas songs, junior bands, dances, recitations, monologues, drills, choruses apd dia­ logues, Showing very creditably what Miss Lennox has done as mu'Sic tea­ cher in the school and the time and patience of both she and Mr. Mundell in training them for their parts. St. Stephen’s Christmas Tree St. Stephen’s Church held their an­ nual Christmas Tree and Concert on Tuesday evening of last week in the town hall here, which was much of a success. Each .child took their part well in recitations, dances, songs, solos, etc., and the 3-a'ct play “Dick­ ens’ Christmas Carol”, put on by the A.Y.P.A. was also much enjoyed, af­ ter which Santa distributed gifts and bags of candles and nuts to, all the children present. Lois and Jack Dodds also received special gifts for perfect attendance at Sunday School for two years. Other scholars in each class Were presented with prices for attendance and lessons by their S. The pageant by song and story depicted very beautifully the Christmas story of the coming of Christ. the prize-winning back of Gertrude Niessen. Annual Social Evening The United Church on Wednesday evening of this week will hold their annual social evening, commencing at 7.30. Watch Night Service The Annual Watch Night Service will be held on Friday evening; New Year’s Eve, in United Church. Mrs. David Walker Word was received here last of the death in Niagara Falls, on December 20th,. of Mrs. David Walker, who was well known in this community. The late Mrs. Walker had been in failing health for some time. She was the eldest daughter of j the late John and Allison Gibson, one tiihe residents of Wroxeter. Some 60 ■ years ago she was married to.David ' Minnie I Walker, who for a number of years prior to his-retirement, taught in the . Collegiate in Niagara Falls.
