Andrew Holmes visited for a few days with friends at Windsor last week. APPLE JELLY Use-tart apples that are barely ripe, or Slightly underripe. Wash and cut the fruit in slices about Vs inch thick, leaving the peel on. Add water to cover, about 2 cups to each pound of fruit. Cook about 15 to 20 minutes, or 'Until soft. Strain through a cheese­ cloth bag and then through a flannel one. Add % cup sugar to each cup of sour apple juice or % cup short to each Cup juice of moderate acidity. Boil to the Jellying point and fill in­ to glasses. Miss Edith Reid’ and friend of Wingham visited at Jack Reid’s last week. A shower was held recently for Mr. and Mrs. John Abram. The many friends here of Mr. Tony Meahan of Wroxeter were sorry to hear of his serious illness. He is in London Hospital at present. The lucky draw for the quilt went to Miss Ethel Fitch. Scalloped potatoes, pork and beans, bologna, bread and butter, was served by the McIntosh ladies. Powell, British Social Credit technician, was convicted in Alberta Supreme Court at Edmonton of publishing defamatory libel know­ ing it to be false, and sentenced by Mr. Justice W. C. Ives to six months in jail with hard labor. The sentence was accompanied by a recommenda­ tion for deportation. Sentencing of Mr. Powell, who came to Alberta last” June from London as an adviser to the Alberta Social Credit Board, came after Joseph H. Uniwn, Social Credit member of the Alberta Legis­ lature for Edson, was sentenced.on the same charge last Saturday. BELMORE Three‘s car loads from.
