With Mrs. Wylie presiding, the meeting opened with the call to worship, hymn ‘‘More love to Thee, O Christ” and the Scrip ture lesson from 19th chapter of Luke taken by Mrs. Ramage. Mrs. AleXi Edgar led in prayer, Mrs, Wylie pre sented the last chapter of the study book “For Joy of the Task,” She briefly told the stories of Miss Upl tom in Mexico; John Elder of Persia who was offered his choice of two $10,000 salaried positions in America. They did not'even tempt him when he had “A real job over there in Persia.” Another part dealt with being the child of missionaries. Is it unfair to children? Apparently the compensa tions about balance the drawbacks. ‘‘Until She Find It” was the text of the little story told of the Chinese just released after five years in pris on. His sole inspiration during that time was the missionary’s visits to him. -After his release he naturally turned to his one friend for rehabili tation with the result that the mis sionary could: say “Rejoice for I have found that which was lost.” “Come let -us sing” was followed by a splendid reading by Mrs. Alex. Ed gar “Adventures with God”. This dealt with the changed life of an av erage woman, when she let herself become an adventurer with God. Some of her opportunities used were, inviting seven folk to the W.M.S., taking five new members to Sunday School, becoming a worker herself, teaching a class of young people, ser ving as an officer, entertaining the society in her own home, putting on a children’s play at this meeting, help ing with another’s programme; pre senting neighbourly gifts of vegetab les and flowers from her own garden. During the business period Mrs. Ashton, the president, occupied the chair. After Mrs. Carson’s minutes were approved, Mrs. Wylie presented the treasurer’s report. A donation from Rev. Stanley Johnston and Vera (Mrs. Gamble) in memory of their ifiother, Mrs. T. O. Johnston, a much esteemed member of this society, was gratefully received.1 It’was with ,deep regret that the resignation of Mrs. Cook as Christian Stewardship Secretary, was received. Mrs. Cook has been a faithful, valued member for many^years and her re moval from our midst is keenly felt. A resolution of appreciation for her splendid services is being forwarded to Mrs. Cook, along with the society’s best wishes for health and happiness in het new home. Miss Alice Edgar of Orange Hill, was elected as the hew Christian Stewardship Secretary. Will all members and interested friends of the society ptcase note that the Spring quilting for the bale will be held this Thursday afternoon, at the Church. Come out and lend a hand. Kindly bring all donations Of second-hand clothing, boots, shoes, buttons, pins, needles, thread, yarn, good reading material or what have you, to" the Church before June 12th.
