Continuing with the in-
troduction of the services and
facilities at Vanastra, this week
we look at Vanastra Christian
Church, Conestoga College and
the local Ministry of the En,
vironment facilities.
Vanastra Christian Church,
affiliated with the Christian
Reform Church, is located in
the former Catholic Chapel at
Vanastra. Presently, Rev.
Beukema from Clinton holds
services Sunday evenings at
7;30 p.m. Friday evenings is
Bible Club from 7;30 p.m. to
8:30 p.m, for children 4 years to
14 years. Approximately 60.70
children attend each week.
In the new year, the
Vanastra Christian Church will
have a full-time pastor, Carl
Boerstna. Mr. Boersma, with
his wife and infant, will live at
Vanastra when he begins his
duties here.
Water and Sewage
Our water distribution and
sewage treatment facilities are
under the ministry of the en-
vironment, Ontario Govern-
ment. Plant superintendent is
Don McLean of Clinton, Plant
operator, Class A, is John
Cullen.
Since our system was not in
use for sometime and the reser-
voir is old, our water is
chlorinated. Each day, one
quarter pound of chlorine is ad-
ded to the reservoir or tank.
Our water comes from artisian
wells at Clinton and is metered
at the Vanastra plant.
I asked Mr. McLean why the
chlorine taste is stronger some
days. He explained it is related
to usage. If less water is used
the chlorine taste will be
stronger.
For interest, Mr. , McLean
gave me monthly average
figures of consumption to for-
ward to readers. For instance,
October daily average is
124,000 gallons.
In the summer there is some
increase in water use to 146,000
gallons per day on an average.
On my asking about sewage,

length gown of white polyester
satin and dainty white lace
trimmed the tiny stand-up
collar, formed a bib effect on
the bodice, and accented the
waist, ending in streamers at
the back of her gown. Her long
full sleeves ended in deep cuffs
and a Juliet cap held her
elbow-length illusion veil in
place. She carried a bouquet of
yellow roses, and white daisies
