The Clinton Centennial
Mustangs split a pair of games
this week to remain in third
place in Group Two play as
they downed LonclOn $.1 and
dropped a 5.4 decision to New
Hamburg, the current league
leaders, on Sunday,
Last Thursday night, the
'Stangs got of to fast start as
Neil Colquhoun fired a
unassisted goal at 3;18 of the
first period, Then Zeke Fremlin
scored his fourth goal of the
year as Neil Colquhoun and
Dan Colquhoun picked up the
assists, Dan Colquhoun then
made it 3.0 before the end of
the period as he broke out of
his scoring slump with his 1st
goal of the season at 17:43.
The game started to get very
rough in the second period and
there was no scoring.
In the third ' period,
Colquhoun scored his second
goal of the game to make it 4-0
at 3:13 and three minutes later,
Mike Anstett made it 5.0 on an
unassisted goal. London then
made it 5-1 as Brian Browell
scored their tone goal at 9:51.
The Mustangs then went on a
scoring spree as Brian Lane
scored twice and Neil
Colquhoun his second goal of
the game within a three minute
time period.
There was a total of 33
penalties handed by referee
John Slota including two
match penalties, one for butt-
ending to Barry Lane, and the
other to Dan Colquhoun for
high sticking. There were also
four fighting majors as the
game came close several times
Excellent goal tending by
Mike Williscraft and individual
goals by Sean Van Dongen, Ian
Peck and Paul Stephenson gave
Clinton Wil-Dex Atoms their
first victory in their home
opener on Nov. 16.

third period, keeping Seaforth

hustled the league leading New

foiled only by a very strong per.
forforre,-;nce by the Halms
goaltender Don Madger who
was bombarded by 43 Mustang
shots and was backed by only
19 shots by his teammates,
However it looked as though
the Halms were going to run
the 'Stangs out of the rink oq
they scored at 1;57 and 2;16 of
the first period. Then the
'Stangs got moving as Paul
Priestap and Vidor Kennedy
evened the score at 2-2 on goals
at 6:09 and 7:47.
In the second period, New
Hamburg struck early once
again scoring after :52 seconds,
but Randy Millar tied it at 3-3
at 5:33. The Hahns went ahead
4-3 at 6:20 and Neil Colquhoun
tied it up at 10:49 on a goal set
up by Paul Priestap and Randy
Millar.
Then Madget shut the doors
on Clinton the rest of the way
and a goal by Tim Weiler in the
third period stood up as the
winner.
The Mustang's record is
three wins, four losses and
three ties for nine points. All
three ties were games in which
the opposition tied it up in the
last three minutes of the game
so the Mustangs are having a
respectable year.

The Clinton Minor Hockey
Association's season is in full
swing and sees action about 20
hours every week at the Clinton
Community Centre.
The "A" teams are well
organized with new coaches
and managers and each have
played several games so far.
This year, Atom, Pee Wee,
Bantam and Midget teams are
competing in Zone 1 of the
WOAA, as well as being en-
tered in several tournaments.
The "B" teams or those
players who are not playing on
the travelling teams, are as yet
not well organized, with the
Midgets being the exception.
The Association badly needs
help in organizing the Pee Wee
and Bantam "B" teams, or
house leagues. They have ice
