Margaret Campbell, Liberal
M.P.P. for St. George, called
last week upon the Provincial
Government to initiate a full
public inquiry into the ac-
tivities of the Ontario Housing
Corporation.
"The Ontario Housing Cor-
poration must be investigated
fully, and the activities of of-
ficials at every level, including
the Board of Directors, must be
scrutinized very carefully,"
said Mrs. Campbell,
"A full official inquiry is im-
perative, and all records, in-
cluding the Corporation's
books and the minutes of the
Board of Directors' meetings,
must be available for scrutiny.
In the past, when we have
requested that these documents
be made available to Members
of the Legislature, we have
been refused. If necessary, the
power to subpoena should be
exercised by those conducting
the inquiry.
"Information has reached my
office which indicates very
clearly that the affairs of the
Corporation have, to a very
great extent, been conducted
Broadfoot from Mrs. Hender-
son, Mrs. Haugh and Mrs.
Berry.
It was announced that the
general meeting will be held on
Dec. 3, beginning with a pot-
luck supper at 12:30, All ladies
of the congregation are in -
Vi teci.
The Tuckersmith group will
hold their Christmas party on
Dec. 12 with dinner at 7 p.m.
All ladies are asked to return
their 10 cent a week meal boxes
at this meeting.
Arrangements were made for
the bazaar which ,was held on
Nov. 16, and Mrs. Waiters
closed the meeting with prayer,
A delicious lunch was served
by Grace Thompson, Muriel
Allan, and Elsie Keys,
against a background of
socializing, and the donation of
gifts by developers and others
interested in transacting
business with the Corporation.
"At the present time, there
are cases involving the Ontario
Housing Corporation before the
Courts, but in my opinion,
these only relate to a com-
paratively small proportion of
the widespread practice of "in-
fluence pedalling' which has
been prevalent for some years.
Senior officials have been in-
volved in these activities and
have therefore not been in a
position to give any moral
leadership.
"A public inquiry is long
over-due and should be
initiated without a delay."
Leafy herbs should be
gathered before heavy rains so
they are not damaged or
covered with dirt. For best
flavor retention they should be
dried rapidly, preferably in a
well-ventilated and dark room.
Direct sunlight may bleach the
color from tender-leafed herbs.
