Jack Burghart chief newscaster
for CFPL-TV
Jack Burghardi, chief newscaster for CFPL-TV,
was horn and educated in Port Colborne, Ontario.
After chmpletion, of seconclar;S school hey attended
Business College in Welland, Ontario,
Mr. Burghardt began his broadcasting career
with CHVC-Radio in Niagara Falls. While there he
held a number of positions giving him an extensive
background in the broadcast business.
Frian Niagara. Falls 'Jack jOined CHCH-TV,
Channel ] I in Hamilton, Ontario where he worked
in several positions until appointed Director of
News Services. During this time he was also
moderator of a daily "Open Line" program over
CKOC-Radio, Hamilton.
In September, 1971 .Jack -Burghardt was appoin-
ted as chief newscaster for CFPL-TV, As a member
of CFPL-TV's News Department Mr. Burghardt
also hosts News Specials and important election
coverages.
, Through his work as a newsman Jack has visited
most of the major areas on the North American con-
tinent as well as the' Middle East and Europe.
Mr. Burghardt is a member and active layman-in
the United Church of Canada, He is a member of
the Executive of the Division of Communications in
the United Church and is also currently on the ad-
visory committee of the Salvation Army, As well,
.Jack Burghardt.is a member of the Board of Direc-
tors for the Y.M.C.A. arid a meniber of the London
Rotary Club. Jack . is a former,member of the Com-
munication Arts Committee, Mohawk College in
Hamilton and a former member and past-president
of the Hamilton Junior Chamber of Commerce.
With his extensive background and broadcasting ex-
perience Mr. Burghardt is in great demand as a
public speaker.
Jack and his wife Mary have four children - two
boys and two girls.
