BUY GLIDDON PROPERTY
Town Cotincil decided at the October'
meeting to purchase the west part of the
north part of lot 295, plan 7, King Street,
presently occupied by. Gliddon Cleaners,
• for $6,000. This parcel will supplement
land already owned by the municipality.
TRAFFIC SURVEY
Ontario Ministry of Transportation and
Communications will be requested to con-
duct a traffic survey within the Town of
Clinton at its earliest convenience.
SALT SPREADER, SHED
Clinton Public Works Department was
authorized by Town Council at its last
meeting to purchase a salt spreader at
an estimated $3,250.
RENT TOWN - OWNED HOUSE
A brief discussion was held by Clinton
Town Council about the possible renting of
a portion of the town-owned house at 68
Victoria St. It was agreed to rent this half
but not on a long-term basis.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Additional Christmas street lights will
be purchased by the town at a maximum
cost of $2,000, Council decided at this,
month's meeting.
PARTIAL HOLIDAY
ON MONDAY, NOV. 11
By proclamation, 'Clinton will have a
Public holiday until one o'clock in the af-
ternoon of Monday, November 11, Town
Council decided at its last regular
meeting.
Branch No, 140, Royal Canadian Legion,
had written requesting that Town Council
give consideration to the proclamation of a
full holiday on that date.
RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
Town Council of Clinton received a let-
ter at its last meeting, requesting Clinton's
concurrence in a resolution of that Council
asking that the Ontario Government
provide additional money to municipalities
that are forced to up-grade recreational
facilities due to up'-graded building code
requirements. Council concurred.
CONTRACT'ACCEPTED
Contract for reconstruction of Dunlop,
Joseph and Orange Streets effective August
29, was accepted by Town Council at its
last meeting, upon advice of the engineers,
B.M. Ross and Associates Limited,
Goderich.
CONVENTION-BOUND
Town Clerk C.C. Proctor was asked at
the Town Council meeting, to make
advance reservations for five double and
one single room at. the annual convention

The Holmesville I Club's
seventh meeting was held at
Holmesville Public School. The
minutes of the fifth and sixth
meetings were read and ap-
proved by out President Ann
Elliott. The roll call was read
and answered,
We discussed the subject
matter of the fifth and sixth
meetings and we also discussed
our exhibit for Achievement
Day and have everything plan-
ned.
Mrs. Yeo discussed
hospitality in the club and
courtesies at club meetings.
Brenda Wise discussed
etiquette at banquets and din-
ners.
In our group work we all
wrote out invitations for our
club party next week. We got
all our final plans made for the
party and I am sure everyone
will have an enjoyable time. —

/ Mayor Don Symons reported to Town
Council at the October meeting that the an-
nual Christmas Party fot "Council and em-
ployees and various bodies of the town"
would be held on November 27.
Council discussed the possibility of
honouring the boys' and girls' baseball
teams which won Ontario honours this
year. It was agreed that members of both
teams should be invited to the banquet on
November 27 and suitably honoured at this
time. Councillors Ruth Roy and Don Hall
were appointed to organize this. •
Building permits totalling $45,000 in
value, were approved at the October
meeting of Town. Council, indicating a
decline from the same period of 1973.
Details were as follows: Sears Limited,
sign, office, Albert St., $600; Don Arm-
strong, pool, 93 Princess St. W.,' $4,000;
Ray Mitchell, dwelling, 120 James St.,
