Allen Spraggett joins Global
Allen Spraggett will be joining
the cast of Global Television's new
show, THAT TALK SHOW, which
will be seen Mondays through
Saturdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30
p.m.
Allen is an astrologist and an ex-
"pert in all aspects of parap-
sychology and, psychic phenomena.
He dodsn't like the term "super-
natu'ral" because, he believes, we
should not be limited in our view of
what is "natural". Time magazine
once called him a "psychic sleuth"
but Allen prefers the title "psychic
investigitor" as he feels that while
there are many genuine instances of
psychic phenoinena there are also
many spurious ones. He himself has
exposed several frauds.
Born on March 26, 1932 in
Toronto, Allen is married and has
five children, two dogs and two cats,
including one black cat named
Houdini. He was educated at
Queen's University in Kingston and
then served as a parish minister for
eight years. From 1962.71 Allen was
Religion Editor for the Toronto
Star where he was also a columnist.
He was the host of a CBC Montreal
television program called "The Oc-
cult" and in 1971 he became the
writer-narrator of a syndicated
radio feature "The Unexplained"
which was heard on CFRB radio in
Toronto and across Canada. In the
same year, hjs weekly newspaper
column unde the same title was
syndicated in 50 newspapers
throughout. the U.S. and Canada. In
1973 he was featured daily on
CFRB Radio's "You and Your Sun
Sign", an astrology feature, and he
is still heard regularly on CFRB
Toronto. He is the author of seven
books, including "The World of the
Unexplained" and 'The Case for
Immortality", both published in
1974. He is currently president of
the Toronto Society for Psychical
Research and he lectures on parap-
sychology and .ESP . at villeges
across Canada and the US.
On Monday's edition Of THAT
TALK SHOW the ebullient Allen
Spraggett will interview what he
calls E.& P. (Extra Special People)
on all aspects of parapsychology
and the unexplained. On Fridays he
will moderate a hotline show in
which viewers will phone in
questions and suggest topics for
discussion. "Allen Spraggett with
ESP" will be seen Sundays at 5:00
p.m.
Bill Bennett on Hockey Telecast Team
John Spalding, Program Director
of the Global Television Network,
announced today that Bill Bennett,
Sports Director of CKPT Radio in
Peterborough, Ontario, will join the
team of broadcasters who will
provide the network's coverage of
the hockey games featuring the
Toronto Toros of the World Hockey
Association.
Bill, who will continue to hold his
position at CKPT, has had wide ex-
perience of sports coverage in radio
and television. He was born in
Kapuskasing thirty-six years ago
and was educated in Woodstock,
Ontario. When he was in Grade 13
at Woodstock Collegiate, another
young fellow who later became in-
volved in hockey was in Grade 11.
The youngster was Robert Marvin

Bill's first job in radio - at the
tender age of 16 - was as disc jockey
for CHVC Niagara Falls. A year
'later he moved to CHLB, Oshawa,
as the "morning man". His next
move was to North Bay where he
became the morning disc jockey for
CFCH and later the Sports Director
for CKGN-TV, which is now CFCH.
TV. For ten years he was Sports
Director of CKBB Radio and
CKVR-TV in Barrie, Ontario,
where he gained extensive ex-
perience in hockey by covering the
Barrie Flyer games.
Following his time in Barrie he
moved, to Denver, Colorado where
for three years he was Publicity
Director for the Denver Spurs of the
Western Hockey League and play-
by-play announcer for radio broad-
casts of the games. In 1971 he
moved to Peterborough as CKPT's
Sports Director where he has been
working on the broadcasts of the
games featuring the Peterborough
Petes of the OHA Major Junior A
• League.
As part of the Global team, he
will be doing between-period inter-
views with hockey players and per-
sonalities in addition to selecting
highlights and giving his own in-
sights into the game, "Hockey is my
life", says Bill. "So I am very ex-
cited at the prospect of my new job
at Global, The Toros, with the ad-
dition of such players as
Mahovolich, Henderson and
Nedomansky should generate some
real hockey excitement this year on
Global,"
