UCW meets
The regular meeting of the
afternoon unit of Ontario
Street Church U.C.W. was held
on September 3, with 33 mem-
bers and eight visitors present.
Mrs. Mervin Batkin had
charge of the devotional period,
her theme being the "Lord's
Prayer". Mrs. Van Damme
sang a solo in her usual accep-
table manner.
Mrs. Murray Forbes ex-
pressed pleasure at being sent
as a delegate to Alma College.
She conducted a sing-song that
they had learned while there,
also led in games that they had
played, to help them get
acquainted. .
Mrs. Ernie Crich presided for
the business meeting. The
General meeting is to be held
September 11. An overseas bale
is to be packed in November
and yarn, knitted goods, print
and money etc. will be accep-
table. The joint Thankoffeiing
is to be held on Oct. 6 in
Wesley-Willis Church at 7:30.
Mrs. Beukema to be guest
speaker.
Rev. Wildfong gave a very in-
teresting talk on church union.
He told us the history of union
for the last 30 years up to the
issuing of a booklet entitled
"Plan of union" to be studied
by all church groups.
Mrs. Crich closed the
meeting and Mrs. Norman
Trewartha's group served a
very dainty lunch.
Wesley-Willis United Church
was decorated with pink
gladiolas and white feather
mums and candelabra for the
double ring wedding service
when Rhonda Louise Fear
became the bride of Hugh
Murray Love on Saturday,
August 10, 1974 .at 5 p.m.
Rhonda is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fear of Clin-
ton and Hugh is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Love of RR 2,
Atwood.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father and mother, chose
a long gown of white chantilly
lace styled with a natural
waistline and full skirt and
train. Soft ruffles outlined the
neckline and wrists. To com-
plete the look, she wore a
cathedral length veil trimmed
with the same chantilly lace.
She wore a string of crystals
belonging to her maternal gran:.
dmoth'er. Her bouquet was a
cascade of sonya roses, lily of
the valley and baby breath and
trailing ivy.
Mrs. Delbert Nixon of Strat-
ford was her sister's niatrod'of
honour and she wore a floor-
length gown of coral, with
dainty white overlay with
multicolour flocks styled with
empire waist. She wore coral
bows in her hair; her basket of
flowers featured feather mums
and baby's breath sprayed to
match her gown.
Bridesmaids were Miss
Sheila France of Wingham and
Miss Elva Ross of RR 1
Palmerston. Miss Cindy Nixon
of Stratford was her aunes
flowergirl. They were dressed
in identical gowns as the
matron of honour but in green,
blue and mauve respectively.
Their flowers were the same as
the matron of honour but
sprayed to accent the colour of
their gowns.
Ross Rocker of Listowel was
bestman and Don Gibson RR 4
Listowel and Mr. Dave Woods,
RR 5 Mitchell acted as ushers.
Soloist was George Cull of
Belgrave, who sang "Wedding
Prayer" and "Thou Art My
Own."
A reception followed at the
Legion Hall, Clinton where the
bride's table was de&irated
with a three-tiered cake and
candles. Receiving the guests,
the bride's mother wore a pale
green chiffon floor-length gown
and a corsage of sonya roses.
Assisting was the groom's
mother in a floor-length gown
of deep rose chiffon and a cor-
sage of white carnations. Scotts
orchestra provided the music
for dancing.
For ,a trip to Northern On-
tario and the United States the
bride chose a street-length
gown of yellow featuring accor-
dion pleated skirt and white ac-
cessories and a corsage of sonya
roses.
Guests were present from
B.C.,Alberta, Exeter, Morpeth,
Belgrave, Londesboro, Toronto,
Wingham, , Lopcion, Listowel,
Mitchell, Atwooil, "Palmerston,
Blyth and Clinton,
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Love will
reside on the groom's farm at
RR 2, Atwood.
Previous to their marriage
showers were held by Miss
Sheila France of Wingham,
Miss Elva Ross at Atwood and
Mrs. Valerie Moursinjohn at
Clinton,
