Clinton News-Record, 1974-09-05, Page 38PAGE 22 Bill Cameron develops new role at Global Television Bill Cameron, who became chief writer for GLOBAL NEWS in Oc- tober 1973, has been- chosen to co- host a new production, THAT TALK SHOW, to be seen on the network this Fall (Mondays through Saturdays, 3:30-4:40 p,m,) Bill has had extensive experience in writing and broadcasting, which will nerve him in good stead in THAT TALK SHOW, which he feels will be stimulating and thought-provoking as well as enter- taining. Bill was born in 1943 and had his early education in Van- couver. He attended Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa following which he studied English for two years at the University of Toronto. He spent four years as a' professional actor, working mainly for the CBC in Toronto. He then turned to writing and broadcasting and worked freelance for the public network. From there' he moved to the Toronto Star where he remained for several years in dif- ferent capacities, including that of editorial page columnist and mem- ber of the editorial board. He received a Canada Council grant to go to Europe as a drama critic for one year. On his return he con- tinued to develop his career as a freelance writer and also was the host of a half hour CBC radio show, "Toronto in Review". He was, for a time, press critic of LTV's early morning program "Canada A.M." and is the co-author of a book on poverty entitled "The Real Poverty Report".
