The second half saw the roles change and Goderich took com- mand - outhustling the Clinton team at every turn and giving our forwards no chance of a shot at goal. Goderich went ahead 2-1 when Gottschalk scored on a penalty and increased their Vanastra Gun Club results 'Announcement C. Colts ready The ClintonC°Itst who swept the Huron-Perth Pennant with no losses, opened their playoffs on Wednesday night and Friday take on Exeter in the second game of the round robin series in Clinton. Last weekend, the Colts were in a tournament in Chesley and beat Sarnia 14-8 in the first game, but lost to Corunna 13-0 in the second game. The Clinton Soccer Club had its chance to bring home a first trophy last Sunday when they met Goderich in the final of the Third Division Cup, but failed in the attempt when Goderich won by a 3-1 score. Goderich took a leaf out of the Clinton team's book and outhustled our boys in a com- plete reversal of the previous game between these two teams this season. Clinton were first on the scoreboard when Don Arm- strong converted a penalty shot early in the first half. Clinton looked good and the outcome• appeared very, much Bill Stewart of Goderich had a near perfect night on July 31 when he hit 24 out of 25 targets at the Vanastra Gun Club's regular trap shoot. Manfred Dierof of Goderich was close behind with 23 hits and third spot went to Mery Batkin of Clinton with 21 hits. Next came Al Green of Clin- ton with 20, and four men with 19 each, Eric Collins of Clinton, Jim Heard of Goderich, Art McDougall of Goderich and Bob Orr of Bayfield. They were followed by Harrison Schock of Zurich with 17 and Ashley Gilbert of Goderich with 15. At the skeet shoot last Satur- day, Tom Jardin of Auburn hit 24 out of 25 targets, and Bill Stewart of Goderich hit 23, while Manfred Dierof of Goderich hit 22. The tdp three were followed by Mery Batkin of Clinton, Glen Moak of Bornholm and lead to 3-1 when Refflinghaus scored a beautiful goal with his head, again having outwitted a "panic stricken" , Clinton defence. The score could have been added to again when a second penalty was awarded to Goderich but this time Gott- schalk hit the upright. Clinton did however, pull themselves together in the dying minutes of the game and looked a little more like the team we have become used to seeing, showing determination and effort, which was sadly lacking for most of the game. Congratulations to Goderich on a fine, clean game and to their well deserved victory. Clinton are still unbeaten in league play and will try to ex- tend their streak to nine games when they meet London Hellas at Clinton Arena on Sunday, Aug. 11th at 6 p.m. The team would like to thank the many supporters who travelled to London on Sunday , to cheer them on, and hope to 'lee you all out again this week.
