The Clinton soccer Club
were eliminated from the City
Cup by London United in Lon-
don at the weekend when they
went down, by a 5-3 scere.
Suffering their first defeat
this season, Clinton's play did
not come up to the standard of
previous weeks and the local
boys lacked cohesion and deter-
mination which have been key
factors in past victories.
Clinton scored first on a
lovely header from Brian
Jewitt which went over the
goalkeepers hands and into the
open net.
United tied it up shortly af-
terwards on a nice move and
went ahead from a penalty shot
awarded after MeDaid handled
the ball inside the penalty box.
United had the edge on Clin-
ton from then on and added
another goal before half time to
make it 3-1,
The second half saw no im-
provement in Clinton's play
