Mr. and Mrs. John Radford and boys returned -home on Saturday from a weeks vacation at Kincardine. . Glad to -report Mrs, Laura Saundercock is recovering from surgery on her eye at Victoria Hospital, London on July 16th, having had a cataract removed.. 'Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Shaddick der and Jennifer of Kincardine visited ,on Monday with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Alexander. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shob- brook spent Friday and Satur- day with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Millson and family Woodstock. Darren returned home having spent past meek with his grand- parents. They attended a ball tournament that David 'played in. • visited on the weekend with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Allen Shaddick. Krs. Ena Howatt, Mrs. Laura Lyon and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook enjoyed a bus trip to Hamilton Botanical gardens and toured DUNDURN castle on Wednesday, sponsored by Blyth Senior Citizens. Mrs, Ena Howatt spent a couple of days last week with her daughter, Mr, and Mrs. MacHodgert, Kirkton, who had just returned from • a trip to Alaska. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Chuter and Mrs, Elsie Youngblut visited with the latter's sister, Miss Arva Coma. Dinner guests last Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Snell, Robert, Charles and Anne were Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Aitken of Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gibb, and Mr. and Mrs. James Fitzgerald of Clin-t ton. Vahastra' • Gun Club Harold Smith of Seaforth and Manfred Dierof of Goderich shared first place in the trap shoot at the Vanastra Gun club. on July 17, with 21 out of a possible 25 hits. They were followed by Bob Orr of Bayfield and Jiin Hogg of Seaforth with 20 each. • Next came Mery Batkin and Charlie Brandon of Clinton with 19 each. Ervin Marshall . of Goderich with 18, "and Ashley Gilbert 'of Goderich with 15. At the skeet shoot last Satur- day, Allen Turner of St. Marys was the top gunner with 23 strikes out of 25 targets, and he was followed by Mery Batkin of Clinton with 21 hits. There was a three way tie for third spot with Dave Schlemer of Stratford, Torn Allin of Lon- desboro and Mansfred Deirof of Goderich each' hitting 20 targets. Next came Harrison Schock of Zurich and Don McDougall of Goderich with 19 hits, and Ashley Gilbert of Goderich with 17. SICKROOM EQUIPMENT LOAN SERVICE United Church notes A large congregation atten- ded the United Church open air service held on Sunday mor- ning at Seaforth Lions Park. Ushers were Wayne Hulley and Bobbie Hunking. The service began with a singtime led by Elaine, Nixon on the accordian and Ken Scott on the guitar with soloist Danny Lear singing "Try a lit- tle kindness" and the "Lords Prayer". Rev. McDonald in- troduced Miss Clara McGowan who read the scripture. ReV. McDonald's' children's theme Was the story written by Isaac ' Newton. The message was given by . Miss McGoWan, who told of her trip to the Holy Land seven Years ago.-She showed articles she had brought home and ex- plained them. The.flowers at the front were placed by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Bromley in 'honour of the marriage of "their 'daughter Darlene, to Wayne Mcglinehey!„ After the. service; all enjoyed a picnic dinner convened by Gladys Gomley and Margaret Whyte. The table centre was a. lovely bouquet of sweet peas placed by Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Taylor after dinner sports were conducted .by Cathy Penfound, 'Cathy Lyon •and Golda Sewers for pre-schoolers.. Gordon and Darlene Shobbrook and Joanne Lyon for 6-9 years. Results were: girls, Charlene Knox; boys, Wayne Hully; kick the slipper, girls Nancy Pen- found, Boys Bradley Lyon; sack race, boys, Wayne Hulley, girls Karen 'McKale. Relay races, potato and tossing ball in pail and peanut scramble followed. , Rev. McDonald looked after sports for 9 - 14 years in charge of Ferne McClure and Caroline Thompson with relay races which were ski race, dress up, letter word, articles• in bag and guessing legs. Harry Lear moved a vote of thanks to the sports convenors. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shaddock returned home on Saturday night having spent the past five weeks visiting relitives at Prince Rupert and Vancouver B.C.; Edmonton, Alberta; and Provost, Saskatchewan. Mrs. John Chapman of Toronto and Mrs. Dennis Roberton of Guelph spent the weekend with their aunts, Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Cowan. Mils. Mr, and Mrs. Chris Klaudi, Albert, Freddie and Bobby, London, were at their cottage for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dewar and David of Weston were guests of his sister Mrs. Elva Metcalf for a few days last week and David remained for an extended visit with his aunt. Mrs. G.L. Knight spent most of last week with her cousin, Miss Rhea Stirling in London. With Mrs. Knight for the weekend were her' son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Art Latimer of Toronto., Christine Latimer who had been with her grandmother for the past three weeks returned home with her parents. ' Mrs. Earl Norman and Ray, Algonac, Mich. visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker on Sun- day. Mrs, Douglas Curran, Christine and Barbara retur- ned to their home in Don Mills after spending the past twp weeks with her mother, Mrs. Milton Pollock, Goshen Line. Mr. John Colville, Don Mills was also a guest of Mrs. Pollock, and visiting Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McAsh of Woodstock. Mrs. R.J. Larson spent Wed- nesday and Thursday in Lon- don with her son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and ,Mrs. Clarence Larson and granddaughter Karen, Mrs. L.B. Smith spent a couple of days last week with her family, .Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Rowse and gl.ndchildren in London. She was accompanied home by Jill and Dale Rowse who will be with her for the next couple of weeks. Earl all of London. Mrs. Gordon A, Stewart, RR 2, Ripley, visited with her sister Mrs. E.W. Erickson and family on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Mrs, Paul Hovey returned to her home in Langley, British Columbia after spending the past three weeks with her parents Mr. and Mrs, Fred LeBeau. Mrs. LeBeau accom- panied Mrs. Hovey to Toronto where they spent the weekend with former's daughter, Mrs. Fletcher McLaughlin and family. Coleman and Lorie Robinson; boys 14 and under, Brett Finlayson and Steve Hildebr; ladies kick the slipper, Cheryl Talbot and Mrs. Art Finlayson; men's kick the slip- per, Mr. Bob Cartwright. The ' oldest member present was. Mrs. Hpdson. and the Mr, and Mrs. Ray Schell, were in St, Thomas with their son and family, Mr, and Mrs, Hugh Talbot and celebrated with their granddaughter, Deanna on her fourth birthday. Armstrong and family at RR 3, Bayfield. Mr. and Mrs, Ross Merrill were hiking Sunday on the Bruce Trail in the Owen Sound Area and reported a most en- joyable outing. youngest was Kenneth Betties, The person. with the birthday nearest the date of the picnic was Art Finlayson. The person coming from the longest distance was Gordon Car- nochan of Florida, Those elected to office for 1975 were as follows; president - Frank Mellott; first vice president, Hugh Morenz; second vice president, Ivan McClymont; secretary, Mrs. Dorothy Talbot; treasurer, Mrs. Bruce Coleman; sports commit- tee, Doug Hildebrand and Rick Wood. It was agreed to drop the lunch• committee for next year and everyone provide their own refreshments.
