The Band needs this done soon, as it is the only means of advertising Clinton and the Centennial. Public spirited offers will be gladly received by phoning 482-7910. An omission in last week's story needs to be corrected at this time. Band practice will be held Monday nights on the Library Greens at 7 p.m. or in the Town Hall if the weather turns bad. A waiting list has been for- med for students wishing to take instruction in playing an instrument in the Band. ,There will be a number of vacancies open in the Fall, and' for fur- then information please call Ben Bridges at 482-7910. July 20, 1914 at Hully Gully Chalet VARNA 9 p.m. - I a.m. Lunch provided EVERYONE WELCOME Although they have received no response as yet for their request for donations towards transportation expenses, the Clinton Centennial Band received a general grant of $200 from Clinton Recreation Committee to help meet the costs of repairs and music for the year. Police report The Clinton Police reported a number of accidents in the past week or so. On Saturday July 13 at 2 a.m. a car driven by Robert M. Johnston of Albert Street, Clinton went into a ditch on John Street, and hit a pole. About $400 damage was caused. Last Friday afternoon, July 12, at the corner of Victoria and Mary Streets, a car driven by Donald Melady of RR 2, Dublin was in collision with a car driven by Betty Anne Taylor of RR 1, Brucefield. Damage to both cars was estimated at $600. An accident on July 7th at 3 p.m,' between cars driven by Patricia MacDonald of North Street Clinton and Paul Lawrence of Goderich caused about $850 damage. The collision Secured -at Huron aria North Street. About $500 damage was caused when a car driven by Barry Thiel of Exeter was in collision with a car driven by Gordon C. Wright of RR 3 Kip- pen. The accident occured at 11:55 p.m. at the corner of Huron and Albert Streets. A car driven by Richard Welch of Albert Street Clinton and a car driven by Howard Edwards of Princess Street, Clinton were hi collision at Isaac Street near Mary Street on July 4 at 6 p.m. Damage was set at $300. A further donation towards uniforms was made by the now dissolved Vanastra Teen Club, the sum of $62.68 presented by president Chris Fowlie and Treasurer Nancy Garland. A jar of pennies was donated by Mrs. Lucy Bezzo amounting to $3.53. - The bands sincere thanks goes to all for their support and to Mrs. Mary Hearn, who con- ducted the Band in concert at Seaforth, with such excellence last Sunday. Dr. Bowker also gave his time to put the band through an interesting practice on Mon- day even though he was in pain, not from his leg, but from, would you believe, a "toothache!" Dwight Strain the regular bandleader, is away in B.C. on holidays for a month, and during this time, the Band has been asked to play at Point Farms Provincial Park on Friday the 12th and for the Clinton Merchants Association for their sidewalk sale on August 2nd, in the evening. The young people are also enthused about the upcoming Centennial and by their shows of enthusiasm and promdtion, they hope they will set the example for the older citizens to turn out and support the Centennial Committee in helping to -make Clinton's celebrations a centre of attrac- Monday July 10- 'marked the lira of six Mondays- that the.
