Vacation Bible School
The Vacation Church Bible
School was held in the United
Church July 8th to 12th with
87 children registering, The
leaders were nursery Margaret
Penfound, Cathy Penfound,
Shirley Halley, Diane Presz-
cator and Florence Cartwright.
Kindergarten teachers were
Shirley Lyon, Edythe Beacom,
Vaughan Hunking, Carol
Jewitt, Golda Sewers, Primary

WHO Church notes •
Welcoming into the United.
Church Sunday morning were
Lloyd Pipe and Bert Shah-
brook, The millers were Ken
Pollard, Steven Bromley,
David Lear and Darrell Shob-
' brook.
Leading' the Kindergarten
congregation were Mrs. Murray
Lyon, Mrs. Wayne Kennedy
and Mrs. Tillie Westerhout.
The choir number was solos
"Bless this. House" and "He
chose the Cross" by Louise
Lovett with Mrs. Allan Boman
at the organ.
Rev. Mr, Donald children's
story was "The donkey" and
hie message was, to be or not to
be is the Question. The flowers
at the front of the church were
placed by Mr. and Mrs. Orville .
Kelland in honor of the
marriage of their daughter

Next Sunday July 21st, is the
annual open air service and
congregational picnic at 10:30
a.m. in the Seaforth Lions
' Park. Miss Clara McGowan
Will speak about her trip to the
Holy Land. Ken Scott and his
orchestra with Danny Lear as
soloist will provide the music.

W.I. picnic meeting
On Wednesday night, July
10th, about 40 attended the
W.I. family picnic. Grace was
sung and all enjoyed a
smorgasbord picnic supper con-
vened by Ena Howatt and Dora
Shobbrook.
After supper, sports were
conducted by Marjorie Duizer,
Marjorie Anderson and
Margaret Taylor , all pre-
schoolers received a treat. Win-
ners: 6 to 8, Darlene Hunking,
Darren Millson; 9 - 12, Susan
Jamieson, Timmie Dollimore;
birthday date, children,
Stephen Duizer, adults, Alice
Buchanan; wedding anniver-
sary, Muriel Millson.
Following the sports, a
business meeting was held. The
minutes of last meeting were

and Doreen Carter, A letter
was received concerning 4-H
"club girl entertains" training
schools to be held in August. It
was moved to. sponsor the 4-H
clubs and last years leaders to
be contacted to lead.
Jessie Tebbutt reported on
the graduation banquet with 30
pupils and 68 parents present.
Jessie thanked all who helped
at the banquet and with Slam
the picnic supper and sports.
Roll call was answered and
collection taken.
The next meeting will be
held on August 14th at the hall
at 7 p.m. with a tour to "Gay
Lea" to follow at Egmondville,
returning to hall for the
meeting.

and Wayne Halley. The nur-
sery department sang songs
and ,'the Kindergarten gave a
story read by Edythe Beacom,
The children used motions
assisted by Shirley Lyon. The
Junibr Scripture, "The lost
son", was read by Cameron
Moon assisted by Nancy Pen-
found and Bobby Flunking. The
closing number was "The Good
Samaritan", read by Judy
Jewitt assisted by Kevin Tam-
blyn and Bruce Hunking.
The offering was received by
Nancy Penfound, Kevin
Fothergill, Susan Jamieson and
Joyce Sewers, All were invited
to the 'church hall to view the
work done by the pupils and all
were treated to cookies and
beverages supplied by Berean
and Burns Units.

Congratulations to Brenda
Langille and Bill Goose who
were married on Saturday July
13th at St, John's on the 'Hill
United Church in Galt. The
reception was held at Galt
Sportsman Club, Galt. Mr. and
Mrs: Tom Allen, Connie
Howatt and John Ailsen were
guests from this community.

McDonald's father, Carl
McDonald ,is on critical list in
Listowel Hospital.
Mrs. Bert Brunsdon was a
patient in Clinton Hospital last
week.
Mrs. Wayne • Jackson and
!family spent thepast two weeks
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Allen, while Mr. Wayne
Jackson was on a trip to Van-
couver and attending the
Calgary stampede with his
father Mr. Ken Jackson and
Graeme. They returned to
Ridgetown on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson
returned home on Monday,July
8th from a week's vacation at
French River. They were ac-
companied by their daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rad-
ford, London.

ded the Orange Parade in
Meaford on Saturday.

Sarah of Woodstock spent two
days with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Shobbrook, returning
home Wednesday night.
Patricia returned, home on
Saturday and Darren remained
for a longer holiday.

are visiting his sister, Mrs.

tended the Mairs' Reunion at
Chesley on Sunday and Mr.
