The NDP ,had about six per
cent of the popular vote in the
riding, about the same as the
1972 election, Mrs. Weary held
onto her supporters.
"We still ran the best $1,000
campaign there was," .she said.
Paul _Carroll said that the
NDP probably got more votes
per dollar than any other party
in the riding. _
"Maybe if we ihereaseci the
campaign budget next elee-
tion,.."
Just before midnight, the
only people[eft in he tiVing
room were Mrs. Weary, her
husband David and Mr.
Carroll.
"Locally we held our own so
we'll be back to fight again,"
Mrs. Weary said.
The NDP achieved its goals
in Huron-Middlesex, she main-
tained.
"We have a stronger,
organization, a stronger base to
work from now," she ex-
plained.
• Mr. Carroll added that the
NDP riding association will
now start preparing for the
provincial election next year.
