The Clinton Kinette Bantam
girls are in a bit of a slump---
we haven't won a game yet, but
we've been close. Anyway,
we're going to change our pace
real soon!
On June 26th we were
defeated by Brodhagen 19-0.
One lousy inning proved to be
the main factor in our loss. We
also lost 28-16 to Mitchell on
July 2nd amidst a fairly large
crowd of supporters (which we
were very pleased to see). Our
July 4th game was cancelled
due to rain. Shakespeare ham-
mered us with a 28-2 win on
July 6th.
In co-operation with the
many merchants of Clinton, we
are hoping to hold a Penny
Sale on Thursday and Friday,
July 18th and 19th. Please keep
those dates in mind. The event
will take place at the Clinton
Town Hall.
We'd also like to make an
honourable mention to Jim
Switzer who umpired at our
tournament and was the only
one whom we neglected to men- ,

Back in Thorndale Sunday
night, the Colts continued their
jinx over the Angels with
another win, this time by a 9-1
MacDonald, Bill Irwin, Ray
Burns, and Dave Bartliff, all in
the bottom of the first.
Clinton got another run in
the 2nd when Steve Cook
crossed the plate. The
Juveniles scored their eighth
run when Rick Welch knocked
in Doug Riehl.
The Exeter club got their two
final runs in the sixth when pit-
cher Don MacDonald threw ,
the Sharks as the boys tried
hard but trailed Goderich 2-0.
As things were at their
darkest,. team captain, Brad
Forbes came through with an
unassisted goal to make it 2-1
for Goderich.
Even the coach had given up,
but with less than one minute
to go, "Twinkle Toes" Stephen-

two wild balls,
Clinton's 9th, 10th, and 11th
runs were also scored in the
sixth as MacDonald drove a
base hit up the center to score
Cook and Anstett and then
himself on errors.
Clinton scored two more runs
in the seventh and one in the
eighth to make the final score
14 to 3. •
Don MacDonald pitched a
fine game for the Juveniles
giving up three hits and getting
16 strikeouts. Then Clinton
backed him up getting 1.6 hits.
On Sunday, the Juveniles'
travelled to Seaforth only .to
find themselves defeated for
the second time this season by
a decision of 8-6. Clinton just
couldn't put it together as they
were plagued with more than
enough errors for five games.
Clinton started off all right,
taking a 1-0 lead in the first in-
ning as Steve Cook came home
on a sacrifice fly from Dan
Colquhoun.
The Juveniles went ahead 2-
0 as Cook crossed the plate
again in the top of the third in-
ning. The combination of An-
stett and MacDonald saved the
Juveniles from letting Seaforth
get on the scoreboard. With one
away, runners on first and
third, Mike Anstett threw to
Don MacDonald at second to
catch the runner stealing and
instantaneously . MacDonald
fired home to, intercept the
player coming to' the plate.

Juveniles tied it up in the
seventh with three runs off hits
from MacDonald, Kennedy and
Nicholson.
The Juveniles came up with
one more run in the top of the
eighth as Don MacDonald
came home off a hit from Steve
Cook. Seaforth capitalized on
Clinton errors again in the bot-
tom of the eight.th to make the
score 8-6. The Juveniles just.
couldn't. come up with anything
in the ninth inning..
Dan Colquhoun was the
losing pitcher, due to the errors
of his teammates Eisler was
credited with the win.

Juveniles drop game
RAINTREE
Brian Jewitt picked up a
"hatrick" when the Clinton
Soccer Club beat the Yugoslav
Canadians 5-2 in a game in
London at the weekend.
This extends Clintons un-
beaten streak to seven games
and keeps them top of the
Third Division with 11 points
out of a possible 12.
Both teams played good,
hand soccer and looked evenly
matched until the Yugoslays
took the lead and control of the
Clinton entries
game when Clinton slackeneek
off.
Things looked bad until
Brian Jewitt connected with a
pass and tied the score at one
goal 'each. The goal sparked
Clinton and they regained their
confidence against this strong
and clever Yugoslav team.
Minutes before half-time,
Bill Cantelon made the score 2-
1 for Clinton.
The second half saw Clinton
improve greatly only to have
the Yugoslays tie the score on
an unfortunate defensive play
when the ball was not' cleared
from the Clinton 'goalmouth.
Clinton then settled down
and took charge of the game.
Brian Jewitt was in complete
control of the Yugoslav defence
and it was only a matter of
Lime until he slipped two goals
into the net to give him his
"hatrick".
Nothing could stop the local
boys now, and Bill Cantelon
added his second goal of the
game to complete the scoring at
a well deserved 5-2 for Clinton.
July 14th sees Clinton at
home to Exeter.
Game time 6 p.m.. at the
Arena Field, Come on out and
give the team your support.!
