Church, Westfield was
decorated with baskets of
yellow and mauve mums and
the pews were decorated with
mauve lilacs for the June 8th
wedding of Mavis Irene Bailey,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Mason Bailey of Blyth, and
Robert Owen Morrison, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Murdock
Morrison, Varna.
Rev. Ron Curl officiated at
the double ring ceremony,
while Mr. Ron Snell played the
organ.
The bride was dressed in a
floor-length gown of .NYhite
polyester satin with empire
waist and long chiffon sleeves.
The sweetheart neckline and
waist• were trimmed with white
embroidered flowers. The
shoulder-length veil was held
by a beaded crown. She wore a
heart-shaped locket belonging
to her mother and carried a
bouquet of white and red roses.
Mrs. Valerie Dale, Clinton,
was the matron of honor and
she was dressed in a floor-
length gown of yellow polyester
satin with square neckline and
empire-waist, trimmed with em-
broidered flowers and short
puffed sleeves. She carried a
bouquet of mauve mums and
yellow carnations.
. The attendants were Miss
Mary Snell, Kitchener and
Miss Bonita Bailey sister of the
bride. They wore gowns similar
to the matron of honor except
in deep mauve. Their bouquets
were yellow mums and mauve
carnations.
The groomsman was Gary
Morrison, Varna, brother of the
groom, and the ushers were
Larry Colclough and Larry
Bailey, brother of the bride.
Following a dinner in the
Westfield Restaurant the
guests enjoyed the gospel music
by the Selwoods.
Receiving the guests, the
bride's mother wore a floor-
length gown of rose crimpolene

The groom's mother assisted
wearing a floor-length blue
gown and corsage of yellow car-
nations and white accessories.
After a honeymoon to
Niagara Falls, the young couple
are residing in Clinton.

A week ago Wednesday
night, the members of the
United Church sponsored a suc-
cessful pork barbecue at the
Varna Arena with close to 600
people attending.
Minister Retirei
Last Sunday, Rev. Murdock
Morrison preached his final
sermon in Goshen United
Church as he is now retiring
from the ministry. Mr. Elgin
McKinley read the address and
Mr. William Clarke and Mr.
Roy Elliott presented Rev, and
Mrs. Morrison with red roses
and gifts of money in ap-
preciation for service of 12 years
to the two churches. A pot luck
dinner wrs enjoyed by both
congregalions.
We welcome Rev. and Mrs.
Alex Taylor to the community.
Rev. and Mrs. Taylor moved in
last Thursday and Rev. Taylor
will commence on Sunday as
minister in the pulpits of Varna
and Goshen Churches.
There will be an induction
-service, for .Rev. Taylor at 8
p.m. on Friday, July 5 at Varna
United Church.
