They seemed to recall the rehearsal being easier • And as time dragged on, their stomachs got queasier. Cecil and Ross were still on their feet, But looked about due to collapse in the heat, Their shirts were stuck to their backs with sweat, And the preacher hadn't even started yet. He was leafing madly through his book, Attempting to find the place he took His bookmark from five minutes ago How could anybody be that slow? Most of the relatives in the pews Felt like taking off their shoes. Some of the others were fast asleep And prayed to the Lord their souls to keep. If he doesn't soon start he's gonna spoil it - And some old guy sneaked off to the toilet. At last the preacher's voice was heard, And vows were stammered, word by word, Rings were exchanged and kisses given An old woman whispered "They're married, Thank Heaven". Standing abruptly before the altar, Cecil and Ross tried not to falter. The bouquets of flowers smelled Strong in their noses As they assumed these uncomfortable poses The air was heavy - the church was hot Who knew if they'd remember their lines or not? Just then the organ announced the news And Ross and Cecil shook in their shoes From the back of the church:who should appear But Lois and Mildred and their proud daddy dear. It seemed forever as they marched down the aisle These two fine sisters with a' trace of a smile Approached the young men whose hearts they had sung for And Cecil and Ross knew they were done for. A hush fell over the church that day, As if somebody'd taken your ears away. Saturday. Seaforth III Club attended and presented a skit "What do you Want Your Ap- pearance to Say", with all the members participating. Sorry to report that Jim Preszcator is 'a patient in Seaforth Community Hospital following the misfortune of being involved in a car accident Thursday evening. We would like to welcome to the community for the summer months Michael Dyandza and Samuel Allotey of Ghana, West Africa. They will be staying with the Whyte family and helping at Camp Menesetung, near Goderich this summer. Mr, John Turner and Bariy Turner of Tuckersmith visited on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Reg Lawson, John and Elizabeth, it being the occasion of John's birthday. Immediately following, members of their families surprised them when a decorated car picked them up in front of the church and cir- cled Clan Gregor Square where 103 relatives and friends had gathered for a smorgasbord diluter. The President, Mrs. Charles Reid, opened the meeting with a poem entitled Loving Words," followed by a prayer. Mrs. Doug McAsh opened the devotions with a.meditation on the theme "Life is a Partner- ship". While the couples opened their many beautiful gifts, the young people enjoyed a ball game. The minutes of the last meeting were read and the roll call taken by Mrs, Harvey Hayter. There were 26 calls made to the sick and shut-in in the month of May. There was a report given from the Manse Committees. A few members attended a Brucefield UCW gathering on Tuesday. Mrs. Charles Reid gave a report on the Huron- Perth Presbyterial meeting at Seaforth where the main topic was on "Drug and Alcohol", The members are looking af- ter the Clinton Hospital cart this month. It was announced that there' will be a joint service between Varna and Goshen congregations on the last Sun- day in June at Goshen. Mrs, Reid closed the meeting with a prayer. Lunch was ser- ved by hostesses Mrs. Alice Mustard, Mrs, Bill Taylor, and Mrs. Gordon Hill.
