The Vanastra Community
Association had called a
meeting last Monday and a few
turned out as usual but there
were a few new faces and we
were able to get some more
voluntary help,
, The meeting of the Tennis
Club was a success and plans
are progressing favourably.
More than 20 people attended
and more are interested, The
fee is $10, per person for mem-
bership or $25. for family. For
more information contact Mr.
John Duddy at 6652. Dennis
Donovan was generous enough
to let the club use the land if
'they cleaned it up and looked
after it, Membership cards will
be issued.
The Day Care Centre was
discussed and will be looked
into further so we hope we will
be successful in that because it
certainly is needed in this com-
munity.
Mr. Hill from the board of
management outlined what has
been done to date and said the
addition to the community cen-
tre is to start immediately. The
curling rink will be started very
shortly and will be ready for
the fall and sports equipment
has been purchased arid we
already have a team trying to
bring us to victory, .
The large swimming pool
will be heated and should be in
operatiOn by the latest July 15,
1974. The members present
were very pleased with the
progress and hope more will of-
fer their help to get things
finished.
The residents of Vanastra
held their first Tennis Club
meeting on Tuesday, June 4, in
hopes of introducing more
family entertainment to the
community. The 20 people
present discussed such items as
seasonal fees and the executive
offices of the club,
The fees were decided upon
as ,$10 for an individual mem-
bership and $25 per family.
Members of the executive are
' Bill Hearn, president; Mrs.
Peggy; Menzies, president; John
treasurer; Mrs. Phyllis
Mr, Hill said the executive
have been having meetings
practically every night pins
going to council meetings trying
to get everything organized as
soon as possible and it seems
they are the ones that turn up
for work day too, so he would
appreciate all the help possible
because a few can't do all. The
more volunteer work, the less
the deficit will be and the less
we will have to pay. So come
one, come all. Believe me your
all welcome.
Huron County recreation
director has been very helpful
and will try to assist as much
as possible, '
There will be a work day on
Saturday and we hope more
help will turn up. We are trying
to get the picnic tables put
together (their all cut out and
ready to assemble) and finish
the wading pool. Maybe the
time was too early, so how be
we say please be there by 9 a.m.
and maybe all can be finished
by noon if 25 'show up. Lets get
the work done so we can start
enjoying instead of always
working please, please .please.
Exercising
The ladies are exercising
every morning at 10 at 7
Quebec Street but as soon as
the mats arrive it will be held
at the community centre. So if
you're ambitious you may have
your ,daily exercising as a group
it's more fun that way. .„...
