Community Association
The Vanastra Community
Association held a meeting last
Monday night at the new Com-
munity Hall. The few that
were present were pleased, and
with a little clean-up, we all
think we will have a nice place
to have all our functions.
A new president was
nominated and the committee
was changed from five directors
to nine directors so that we
have a better working commit-
tee.
The new executive is as
follows: president, Mr. A. Jutzi;
vice-president, Mr. S. Russo;
secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Wm.
Thurlow; directors, Mr. W.
McFadden, Mr. R. Gates, Mr.
R. Gonie, Mr. V. Evans, Miss
G. Littlechild, and Mr. H.
Hammond.
Mr. Jutzi thanked the mem-
bers for voting him in and said
there is a lot to be done and to
' be prepared beCause he will'ask
for help from everybody.
On Tuesday. May 21st, there
will be a meeting at the com-
munity hall and it will be
about the recreation Committee
and the , Vanastra Community
Association and will discuss as
much as possible the program
that is to take place this sum-
mer.
The Association also learned
that the Ontario Municipal
Board has approved the
recreation area at Vanastra.
Tuckersmith Township will
finance the $163,000 project by
selling $136,00 in debentures
payable over 20 years. It ex-
pects the balance in grants.

The project includes pur-
chase of the former community
hall and curling rink and con-
struction of a swimming pool,
park, picnic pavilion and other
recreation facilities.
The community association
is hoping that many more
Vanastra residents will attend
the meetings in the future as we
have to pay for the recreation
complex and so let's get some
benefit from it by working at it,
The plans for the new swim-
ming pool were viewed and
everyone there was pleased
with the project and hoped it
could be started right away.
Opti-Mrs.
The Opti-Mrs. of Clinton and
Vanastra had their initiation
on Wednesday May 8th for the
' new executive and for those
who were not present at the
first initiation.
Last Saturday May 11, the
Opti-Mrs. had their Rummage
Sale and it was a success until
it rained, so" they are hoping 'to
continue it at a later date.
