The Varna UCW met in
the basement of the Church
with 25 members and seven
visitors present. '
The president, Mrs. Charles
Reid opened the meeting with a
prayer. Devotions were then
provided by Group three. Mrs.
Ivan McClymont opened the
worship with a Psalm, followed
by hymn "Happy the home
when God is There" with Mrs.
Bev Hill at the piano. The of-
fering was taken up by Mrs.
Harold Dowson and dedicated
by Mrs. Bev. Hill. Worship ser-
vice was closed by "Beatitudes
for Mothers" read by Mrs. Gor-
don Johnston.

Auburn 2, 4-1-1 Club held the
third meeting in the Don-
nybrook United Church, A
discussion was held on
bedroom storage and storage
methods for clothing and ac-
cessories. Mrs. T, Robinson led
the discussion, The members
decided to do a skit for
Achievement Day.
Auburn 2, 4-H club held their
fourth meeting and decided to
call their club Mirror Mooners.
Mrs. Ted Robinson and Mrs.
John Hildebrand led in the
discussion groups.
Auburn 2, 4-H club held their
fifth meeting at the home of

dresser, gave a talk on hair
care and demonstrated how to

(May 8) in the Clinton Public
School with Glenn Patterson of
Goderich doing the calling.
During the evening, a meal of
fried chicken, cake and ice-
cream was enjoyed by all. Un-
der the capable leadership of
the presidents, Ross and Helen
Trewartha they had a very suc-
cessful season of fun, fellowship
and recreation with many
special events.
On Saturday evening May 4,
Egbert Jacobs of Brunner (a
former caller here) held an
evening of singing calls in the
Clinton Public School. Guests
were present from the Huron
and Bruce. Swingers and the

David B. Ragg, Bishop of the
Anglican Diocese of Huron, an-
nounced today that he has ap-
pointed the Reverend Charles
Robert Townshend, B.A. B.Th.,
of Chatham, to succeed him as
Rector of St. George's Church,
Owen Sound, and as Arch-
deacon of Saugeen. Both ap-
pointments will be effective on
June 15th.
The Archdeaconry of
Saugeen covers' the Counties of
Bruce, Grey and Huron.

parting gift for her and also for
her son David. Mrs. Brown
thanked everyone for their gift,
and coffee and cookies was ser-
ved by Mrs. James Glousher,,
and Mrs, Cartwright.
Mrs. Elsie Oemering of Lon-
don, England is visiting her
aunt, Mrs. Lily Kerns and Or-
val McPhee for three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Hank Glim-
sholt moved into their new
home recently on Goderich
Street, having purchased it
from Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Machan.

Mrs. Donald Rae of Listowel
(nee Jannett Dobie) on the
birth of 'their son in Listowel
hospital last weekend.

WALKERBURN CLUB
The monthly meeting of the
Walkerburn Club was held at
the home of Mrs. Worthy
Young with Mrs. Garth
McClinchey in the president's
chair.
Howick Country Squares Les
and Hilda Hibbert of London
(formerly of Clinton) were also
present and Hilda cued a round
dance, (Ginny's Waltz) and
Lois Wise (just out of hospital)
cued the round dance,
"Rhythm of the Rain."
The president of the Howick
Club presented the Clinton
presidents with a pair of
"skunks" who began to tour
the United States October 14;
1960 and entered Canada in
1960 at Kingston. Now, they.
have 56 club badges fastened to
them.
The club is looking forward
to dancing each week again in
the early fall. Three summer
dances have been scheduled
and these will be held in the
Bayfield Village Hall in June,
.July and August.
Youngest son of Bishop and
Mrs. William A. Townshend of
London, the newly appointed
Archdeacon was Ordained by
his father in 1962 He is a
graduate of Huron College and
the University of Western On-
tario, and took a post-graduate
course at St. Augustine's
College, Canterbury, England.
After serving as Assistant
Curate at St. George's Church,
London, he became Rector of
Florence, Aughrim and Both-
well.
Roll call was answered by
giving cash donations for the
support of the group's Korean
Foster Child,
Mrs, Lloyd McClinchey, the
treasurer gave the financial
statement. She reported that
the support of the foster child
had been paid up to the end of
May.
Plans for, the next meeting
were made and Mrs. Roy Daer
invited members to her home,

charge of Mrs. James Jackson
and Mrs. Ted Hunking and the
lunch committee will be Mrs.
Carmen Gross and Mrs, Nick
Hill. The minutes were acceP-
' ted as read by Mrs. Lloyd Pen-
found. The draw prize presen-
ted by Mrs. Ted Hunking was
won by Mrs. Tom Cunningham.

May 14, The tour of this new
Hartzell Super Mill Pac'will be
held at 7:15 p.m. This mill is
the first of its kind in Canada
and William L. Craig will con-
duct the tour. A history of the
sawmills in the district will
also be given and pictures of
by-gone days in this district
will be on display. Mr. Craig is
to be the guest speaker at a
meeting held in the community
memorial hall and will speak
on the hardwood lumber in-
dustry. A cordial invitation is
extended to everyone to attend.

Auxiliary. It was noted that
Varna UCW is in charge of the
hospital cart in Clinton
Hospital in June. There were
36 calls made to the sick and
shut-in in the month of April.
It was also announced that
the Church is holding a Pork
Barbecue on June 26.

in Februgry and is now residing
in Clinton.
